The Carlton DermaVisage is good value - it offers both Crystal and Diamond with Colour Therapy. And it can be purchased initially with only Crystal / Diamond and you can then add the other treatments at a later date if you desire to spread the cost.

Overall not too expensive a unit either backed by a good warranty from a British company.

Hi Sarah (and everyone else)
The machine I use is a non branded "generic" one which I discovered through the company I did lots of training courses with.
I was really wary at first as it doesnt have a big name behind it and I didnt know anyone else who had used it, but to be honest I just couldnt afford one of the well known ones.
I can honestly say that it does exactly the same job as the other machines I have worked with at such a fraction of the price. Its also really small and neat which is important to me as I work mobile and at home.
My clients love the results and keep rebooking which is the most important thing! Hope this helps

ive used skinbasr crystal which is nice but now i want to buy a diamond machine as i feel the cost of using is reduced? i hope so anyway.

i have used the skinbase for the past 7 months and also looking to buy a machine now as i got this on the payg and feel that alot of money is coming out of profit etc, i dont mind as i didnt have to fork out for the machine and they are very good with supplying crystals and materials etc but now i am thinking of a diamond machine to cut costs etc

Same here, so i wonder if it really does cut costs and if it works just as well. I read it was kinder to delicate skin. So does that mean its not as good on Non-delicate skins? if you know what i mean?

Diamond is better for some clients, areas and crystal better for others. It depends on what you are trying to achieve with the appointment.

If you think crystal is too expensive in terms of treatment cost do you need to look at your pricing. You should be charging accordingly to the product cost, if you aren't making enough money from the treatment then maybe your prices need to go up to reflect this rather then spending a fortune on a new machine.

For me the reason for now looking at changing is that I pay Skinbase £12 for everyone I do as I said at first I didn't mind but the busier I get the more I pay them only bonus is they supply crystals and machine

What sort of price per treatment are we looking at for Microdermabrasion.
Obviously the Crystal kind you got to cover your consumables cost, with Diamond you dont so what do you guys charge? I have no reference to costs in my area as nobody does it!

Contact the suppliers of the machines you are looking at and ask them for a breakdown of costs. They should be able to provide this. If not find out how much product you use per treatment, and after now many treatments the various parts need to be replaced. Then from this you can work out a treatment cost.

Yeah absolutely will, but still want to know what people are charging in their salon. x

fozzyo, and everyone please tell me , if yee dont mnd how ye decided between crystal and diamond heads? i know the price is an issue, but you mentioned that it depends on what result you want, whats the difference in results from your experience?

I charge £60 for a microdermabrasion whether it's crystal or diamond. I have the Novita machine and Corinne will give you a break down of the costs in the information pack. To be honest the consumables are pennies with my system. I make a little more on the diamond treatment, a little less on the crystal treatment. It all works itself out in the end!
As for whether to use crysta or diamond it's wholly dependent upon the skin that presents itself to you for treatment. I find that most people who come for a microderm need the more assertive crystals, and I nearly always go over with the diamond wand afterwards anyway. If the consultation points to a peel rather than just a microderm then I wouldn't use the crystals; they're too intensive. I use the diamond wand then follow immediately with whichever peel is right for the skin.

Lynne how much was the machine?

I need everyone's advice. I had a demo for cristal clear. They want 1k for the machine plus salon products for 50 treatments. Is this a bargain? I know nothing of the skincare range, does anyone use/like it/hate it? Its a lot of money to fork out, and I'm still not 100% sure as they only do half your face lol

WHat do u think?

Sarah

Having done both I am now a big fan of diamond as a preference. Although I think the results are pretty much the same its cleaner, cheaper and clients prefer the treatment itself. I also find that clients leave the salon looking better than the crystal version which sometimes leave them a bit too red for their liking! The skinbase machine was good though as it meant no big financial layout and also was suitable for mobile (ish!)
As I said previously, my machine was less than half price of some of them and is fairly small but still as powerful and effective as the larger more expensive ones.
If anyone is in the T Wells area you can go to a demonstration and also have free training. They dont have a website yet but will soon but you can visit or call them. It really is worth looking at this option along with the others

Thanks for that Sweepygirl how much much was the skinbase machine? Do they have products too? WHats the difference between diamond and crystal?

I dont have the skinbase machine anymore but I'm pretty sure they do a profit share type system rather than you having to pay for the machine. They also provide the crystals.
Crystal MD is where the skin is "blasted" with fine crystals for deep exfoliation. The disadvantage I think is that you have to buy the crystals and remove them from skin afterwards.
The machine I have is from the Training Zone in Kent and is diamond MD which is when a diamond tipped wand with varying strengths of heads. I like it because it is more simple to use and cheaper to operate. It cost me less than half the cost of most machines and has already paid for itself as I did an initial course promotion.
They both do the same job though at the end of the day, just personal preference

Um, there's no disadvantage to using crystal microdermabrasion in the correct circumstances! Yes, you buy the crystals, but as with all consumables this cost is passed onto the client in the treatment price. As for removing them afterwards they are removed as you go with the vacuum suction which is part of the machine.

You are broadly correct when you say that they do the same job, but it's a question of degree, and primary and secondary exfoliation. You will not get a secondary exfoliation with just the diamond head. Crystals are indicated for a seborrheic, acneic, scarred skin, but diamond head is useful for a fragile skin, or for when you're carrying out a peel afterwards. So it's not really about personal preference, but what's correct for your client.

I bow to your clearly superior knowledge! I only use microdermabrasion on clients rather than promote/sell machines to therapists so i guess I was just trying to be helpful at "ground level" rather than technically perfect.
What I would say to those looking for the perfect machine is do lots of research as things change all the time and sales people can be very persuasive! I have made some expensive mistakes in the past!

I too use microdermabrasion on my clients every week!

Hi, I use Skinbase's Microderm machine which has been great so far (5 months). It is on a PAYG system so should I decide to change direction in years to come, I wont be stuck with a micro machine, although I'm not thinking about leaving this sector just yet! My clients are happy with the results of the machine, so far so good
