Hi Everyone

Im after a little advice really, ive had my mobile business now for 14 months and i only work with the natural nail.
What i would like to know is how long does it take other mobile techs to complete a Shellac Manicure?

I mean the total time from when you arrive at your clients house until you get back into your car after? I think im taking too long and its really bugging me! I know set up & packing away takes a while, then there`s colour to choose, next appointment to book etc, but sometimes when i feel i have taken ages i feel so rubbish! Ii have lots of regulars so i dont think it bothers them but i want to improve.
Im a little faster than what i was than when i first started but cannot seem to improve my time. :( i think my prep takes the longest, i dont like to cut corners!

My rough timings are from arriving to getting back in my car are:

Shellac Manicure without removal -1hr-1hr20mins
Shellac Manicure with removal 1hr30 - 1:45mins

i would say these are basic manicures, as i do art and depending on how detailed it can take up to 2hrs.

I would really appreciate knowing others timings and any tips on being faster :)

Thank you xx

Have you had a look at your set up and put away times?

Maybe you can save time there e.g. have the nail pops in a.pocket or at the top of your bag and let the client look through colours while you set up, I do d having a cordless lamp and light helps too as no faffing to plug stuff in. I've found having my bits organised inside seperate little bags helps too

I take an hour with removal, and that's not rushing or cutting corners.

I give the Client the colour pops to look at whilst I am unpacking and setting up so by the time I am getting my base and top coat out I also know what colour we are going for.

I have my cotton pads in on box and precut foils in another (I cut these up whilst watching TV in the evening) Buff a nail, wrap and move onto the next. By the time I have wrapped all 10 the first one is ready. Remove one foil, lightly scrape any polish that needs it, then move onto next finger. Apply cuticle remover to all 10, do cuticle work, cleanse, lightly buff to remove any shine, wipe.

Base coat to 4 fingers whilst they are under the lamp base coat to other 4. Swap hands first coast whilst base curing on 2nd hand and so on. Then do two thumbs together. Have some idle time whilst both thumbs are under the lamp so start tidying up then. Whilst I am packing what's left away I am asking when they would like their next appt.

I've been doing shellac for almost a year now, always mobile. From arrival to packing away...I take around an hour for Shellac, depending on what their nail/cuticle condition is! If it's a removal and reapply I take around 1hr 15mins. I give them the colours to look at while I set up and I have everything tidy in my roo bag so I know where it all is and get it straight out. There are some clients that take longer though and I always allow a little extra for first time clients just in case! I wouldn't worry too much I'm sure your clients are happy to wait a little longer for a good job x

When I was mobile I was in and out in an hour tops!!
- arrive and put protective cloth on table
- wrap nails for removal and give colour choices
- set up
- remove and prep nails
- paint
- book whilst clearing up
- take money
- out the door

If the client isn't ready or the table is full, I used to tell them as soon as I arrived I was leaving in 55 minutes whether they were painted or not!

Thank you for your replies and tips ladies :) im sorry for the late reply.

I have a Roo bag which Is just amazing, Ive been paying much more attention to my routine and ive noticed It tends to be different. I need to get my self into the same routine I think. Im a talker as well and have to keep reminding myself not to look up.

Im pretty sure its my prep which im taking forever on

Can I ask what you all carry? I have a Roo Belleroo bag which has all my liquids, files, glitter, etc in and my Shellacs in the top compartment (which is so full) then I carry my lamp, extension lead, desk roll & towel in a large tote bag.
My issue at the moment is my Shellac bag is so full, I have a Roo polish cube which im considering putting my Shellacs but that would mean carrying 3 bags. I purchased a Roo Bitzee bag ages ago which I am yet to use..
