I got fusion extensions put in on Tuesday..about 140 of them. I have fine blonde hair, so that filled up my entire head practically. The girl that did them put them pretty tight to my scalp (some of them started out almost sticking out instead of down), and the first 2 days it was pretty painful. Now its just an itchy irritable feeling like I haven't washed my hair good in a long time...I even had them checked out by another local salon and she thought the bonds look ok, my scalp was not red, they were just close to my head. She was surprised they were still bothering me though. Should they still be sort of painful/itchy so much after over 72 hours? If not, should I have them moved or taken out completely? I am nervous I am going to lose my hair over this because they are obviously somehow irritating my scalp. Thanks for any advice :)

Have you called the person who fitted them?

Oh thanks for your reply. I did call her, and she was surprised they were still bothering me. She said I probably have a sensitive scalp. I told her about how the other girl had said they were too close to the scalp and she said they have to be or they won't last as long...I am torn what to do...I spent a good deal of $$ on these, but I don't know if what I am experiencing is normal, or if something is wrong and I am going to regret not taking these out....I do normally have trouble with tight pony tails and such, so I maybe do have a sensitive scalp, I am just worried most of all that these extensions are going to pull the hair right from my scalp!

Hi,
They really shouldn't be causing you any discomfort, if some were sticking out rather than lying flat then they were definately applied incorrectly. It also sounds as if too many were applied. My advice would be to have them professionally removed and perhaps reapplied by another technician. Make sure that they are qualified and experienced in extensions i.e ask to see photos, perhaps speak to previous clients.

HTH:)

Thanks DivineLocks...so as a follow up if anyone else has this issue...I was ready to take these things off my head yesterday, literally...I decided to visit a different salon in the area that is experienced with fusion. The girls there were shocked how close the bonds were to my scalp in some areas, but she thought they looked really good. So, instead of taking them all out, she went through and took out the ones that were stuck together somehow, and the ones that were too close to the scalp, which amounted to about 15 extensions in total, but made a world of difference on my head. I was actually able to sleep on my back last night and was not in agony. I think they now feel the way they are "supposed" to feel. THANK GOD!!! And, the ones she took out, underneath I would have to say my real hair was actually softer than my hair is normally, no idea why, but it was a very pleasant surprise. So, my fusion experience has definitely taken a turn for the better, for now at least :) I can finally enjoy my long pretty hair!!

Thanks again for your reply!
