Hi guys, quick questions, can I use UV top coat to seal acrylic craft paint? Also, do I need to remove the shine from a sculptured gel nail, before applying the acrylic paint for nail art? Thank you very much for any ideas x

It sometimes depends on your brand of UV topcoat.
There are many of us that do it.
I use "Seal-it" by Nailite.

I use the NFU.OH UV top coat it has no inhabition layer stays lovly and shinny I've not had any paint smudge with it I've never intentionaly removed any shine from anything before using it but then I normaly use it at the end of a rebalance to seal art so the nails are not normaly finished to a shine before I add it ,

I've just RE read your post and I see your asking about sculted gel nails , you could prob use what ever your normal uv finishing produt is and just apply the art before .

I alway buff it sum with a high grit buffer before I apply polish or nail art. Never tried not buffing. But buffing works.

Thank you girls, I'm also just wondering if there is a particular brand that would work well? xx

You should buff the surface before using acrylic paint.

Nfu.Oh TopGel is great but not for every client. Clients hard on their hands/nails topgel tends to chip sometimes if a lot of paint has been used. Best ones from hard gels are definately Nfu.Oh TopGel and Mosaic TopGel.

You could try Star Nails Quattro GF21 Clear or Proffesionails Gellak Shine&Protect for shine after using a lot of acrylic paint. Those are a bit more flexible but the shine is not so long lasting.

One option is also to seal the art with a thin layer of builder gel ;)

Hope i wrote it in an understandable way
