Hey everyone

I have a prom client in a couple of weeks who is having a few beauty things done with me, she has just sent this picture and wants this on her nails. Anyone have any ideas how I could do this with shellac? I was thinking rockstar glitter for the silver glitter but not sure then how to get the blue tip on top? Would I finish off the rockstar with shellac top coat and then d-sperse, then shellac peacock plume the tip, then top coat again?

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance

hello I would paint like you usually do with shellac whole nail blue then but a tape or strip at the edge and the glitter,or you can take the sticky film only from the edge and then glitter, I would try both and see which is best results.

Hi Chreina

That sounds like a much easier way than how I was thinking!
Thanks for your help

I would do it a slightly different way, I would do the whole nail in the glitter and then paint the blue on the end using a dotting tool. You get more control using a dotting tool for straight lines or gel polish French. But the other ladys' way would work just as well. I guess it's the way you feel the most comfortable. If someone asks me to do some nail art, I practice on a nail pop stick first :)

Great idea, thanks Hannah. I've got some spare nail pops so I'll give both ways a go this weekend and see how it works out.

Just out of interest actually, would you top coat your glitter, cure, d-sperse, add the blue with the dotting tool and then top coat and cure again? Or do you add the blue straight onto the glitter before doing your first top coat?

Normally if I paint over glitter I would -

base coat - glitter - top coat - wipe - feel with my finger for any lumps, and file accordingly and top again if needed. Then when I'm happy, and the nail is not sticky, I would add my blue polish.

When happy with my blue polish, I would top coat the nail again :)

When I write all that down, it would sound like the nails would be really thick, but they never turn out to be :)
I also do the exact same thing for French, but obviously no glitter but paint the whole nail pink, top coat, and wipe, then apply the white, top coat, and wipe :) sorry I don't have any example pics to provide...

Are you filing over the glitter ?

This is a very good method I guess I wouldn't thought about it as I thought you have to put the blue straight over the glitter which could result to flip. But if you cover it with top coat would work fine. Is there any chance of the blue not to stick if it is not a sticky layer?

Yes I file over the glitter - I have always done this and it works so well - no one wants lumpy glitter nails :) I always find the glitter really versatile to work with :D

Are you using buffer or 240?

A 240 :) The file only hits the lumps anyway if you are gentle it never effects the rest of the nail

Thank you I will try and see my results
