I am a beauty therapist but have recently started having problems with my nails my self. Lifting from the nail beds, feeling more sensitive and breaking easily. I think it could be onycholisis. But I just wanted to see what everyone thought. And is it worth going to the doctors or is there another remedy? Thanks

I can see that your nail are extremely overfilled and this is more than likely what is causing the onycholysis

I don't think a doctor can do much for you, apart from confirm its onycholysis.

I would trim them right down so that there is no length at all, and oil them continuously like 4-5 times a day, once the nail grows up and is not being further damaged you will probably find that the nail will reattach itself and all will be well once the damaged parts of the nail have grown out :)

Thank you. I usually wear gelish, wonder if this is the cause of the problem. would you suggest just wearing normal polish for now? I want to cover them up in work so my nails don't look a mess for my clients.

I don't think the product is to blame, I think it is your prep work!

I can see the marks of a file or harsh buffer over your nails , and they are very red in places which means you have thinned out the natural nail considerably in those areas.

What are you using to buff the nails with? Is it a white block?

I know many techs choose not to buff with Gelish and get the same results, However because your nails are now so damaged it's likely that you will have lifting and chipping with your gel polish no matter what your prep is.

I would apply your product for protection but don't buff your nails anymore , and just continuously oil them ;)
