I've been doing natural nail overlay gels on clients for quite a while and every now and then i get a client say their nail has split underneath. Why is this? and how can i avoid it happening?

I use akzentz gels, is it my brand of gels or can this also happen with bio and cal gel?

make sure you tap free edge properly. then when you file - don't over file free edge, cause this tiny layer of gel needs to stay there to protect from splitting. also prep them well incl. free edge.
I've never tried akzents gels. I can only say that I don't have problems like that with mine.

Which gels do you use? Im looking to maybe change in the future x

Astonishing Nails. was using different brands before, but only with this one have no problems at all. and also my time for pink&white reduced too

I use Akzentz gels and don't have this problem....why would you think it was the gel...? It could be the client being heavy handed...nail tapping or picking...it could be that you haven't sealed the free edge or have filed it away when refining....if the gel is still perfect on top of the nail but the natural nail underneath has split then it sounds like a capping problem...like the nail has come away from the gel...you might also want to try doing the overlay a little thicker.....HTH x

Thanks for the advice. Shes said the gels are still perfectly intact but that her nail has split underneath. It's only happened once before but im so embarrassed cause it makes me look bad even if she has been heavy handed with her nails and it's her fault. Not sure if it is or not yet until i see them

is it her natural nail or the product that split underneath?

It's her natural nail she's saying x

I would say she had to have hit it somehow then. I just dont see how product let alone a great product causing so much pressure for a natural nail to split underneath it.

I think she's must have hit it as well as I wear them all the time none stop and I never have any problems at all! X
