Nail technician in Spanish???

Firstly can I say I've just recently found this site and it is fab...So informative and a great bunch of people!!! :biggrin:

Now for my question...

I'm moving to spain in a few months and I'm hoping to continue working there as a mobile nail technician...Well I've been designing some business cards for myself in Spanish...My Spanish is basic so I've been getting help from the internet for some of the translation...(sorry this is a little long winded but I thought its best to explain myself rather than just asking the question) anyway, when it comes to translating MOBILE NAIL TECHNICIAN is comes up with Técnico Móvil Del Clavo ...now I know that clavo in spanish refers to a nail that you use with an hammer and I know that las uñas is spanish for finger nails, so logically I would use las uñas instead of clavo but as the Spanish language is not always logical, I wanted to double check and hopefully someone here will be able to tell me which one do I should use???? Any help would be much appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance

Sorry I can't help you with your question but just wanted to say good luck with the move to Spain. My mum and Dad have a holiday home over there and are eventually going to move there. The kids and I want to go to live there to but my partner doesn't.

it should be la as it is singlular and not plural..............
Gigi is the best one for this, her spanish is pretty fab ...............

I don't think this is the right translation, but i'm not quite sure what the translation would be. "de la uña" i think would refer to only one nail, so i think it would probaly be Tecnico Móvil de Uñas. But again geeg would be the right person to answer this, maybe you should send her a PM.

You just go to Quick Links, Private Messages, then on the left you will fing Send New Message, just fill the Recipients Usernames with the person(s) you would like to send, so if you would like to send to geeg, just put "geeg".

Tecnico de Uñas Ambulante

Explination: Movil refers to things not people! so Movil is not the correct word to use here.
Ambulante means travelling - and refers to people BUT can have other meanings and maybe give another impression. They do refer to prostitutes as 'ambulantes'. It is the right word to use, but like the word 'gay' ... people do not always think 'happy' when they hear it.

Why not put your name on the cards. State that you are a Tecnico de Uñas and then underneath put

Uñas en Casa - Nails at home OR
Voy a su casa - I come to your home

I leave it up to you.

If you are female you would be Técnica de uñas, male would be técnico.

Geeg is entirely correct with the comments about móvil and ambulante - neither word would be approppriate to describe a mobile nail technician.

I plan on having on my business cards...

By the way TECNICA means technique and is not the feminine for Tecnico which is the same word for both masculine and feminine and means technician.

You would use Tecnico de uñas. The University of Alicante languages dept. advised me on this one as it is said in Spain and how they would say it in Spain. They refer to all technicians as tecnicos.
