Morning Ladies, Im totally new here and looking for some advice pleeeease!

Im from Scotland and for many years have wanted to do a nail extension course (acrylic) but keep popping out kids so its been put of and put off... anyway, Im now ready to go for it and would like some help.

Where would you recommend the training to be done?
Is the CND course/products the best? and if so can you only with them..

ANY help or advice would be brilliant ladies.

Cnd are fab, you do need to train with them if you want to use their products, but you will get top quality training, I'm not sure about training in Scotland, have a look on their website - sweet squared, you won't regret it x

Thanks Princess Layla.
Any other advice or suggestions welcome...
Am I right in thinking that acrylic nails are more commonly used?

I can feel lots of stupid questions coming soon :-/

The Fingertips Centre is the Scottish Distributor and Educators for CND The Fingertips Centre - Home

Not too far from you in Musselburgh.

Most of the other companies are based in Glasgow which may be too far for you.

do clients normally prefer gel or l&p?
really want to choose the correct course as its pretty expensive

I have a 50/50 split with Gel and L&P (Acrylic) as each product doesn't suit everyone.
As you are a complete beginner I would highly recommend you concidering the CND Complete Class this will give you the finest starting block to starting a career.

Give the girls a call at Fingertips Centre 0131 333 3180 a call and they will give you all the options.

Take a look on the Sweet Squared website in the Education Section for a list of the Courses.

CND Complete

Hey, thanks for the advise but there is no way I can afford to do that course atm, I would love to though

If you are looking about for courses then reading this thread will help give you information in what to look for in a good course....http://www.salongeek.com/nail-geek/98614-basic-artificial-nail-course-requirements.html

It was started by mum aka Marian Newman author of the Complete Nail Technician.

There are other courses in your area I think Ela Loszczyk the Scottish Nail Tech of the year for the last few years runs courses with her products Astonishing Nails, and she is in Edinburgh http://astonishingnails.co.uk/education-ezp-15.html

Regarding what to do first betweejn Gel and Acrylic (L&P) I would recommend you take a beginner course (at least a 5 day course) in Acrylic as it can be the most difficult to learn application wise. Once you have mastered it, which could take a while lol!, then you can do a 1 day conversion course to Gel.

Gel is more popular than it used to be but Acrylic nails for enhancements are still by far the most popular. My business is mainly acrylc nail extentions and Gel polish. Although I can do Gel extentions I never do.

have you done training with astonishing nails? Its a little cheaper and closer for me to get to but keep hearing CND are the best!?

x

im CND trained and was educated at the fingertips centre at newbridge! they are amazing (i keep going back for more)

i think Ela at astonishing nails is about to go on maternity leave for 6 months so you might not get courses there for a while, you can always give them a call.
