Dont get my wrong not all college tutors are not upto standards and it must be extremely hard but i think there are a few out there that could up their standards a bit.

I also would like to add that its not the beauty teacher thats trainings fault that some things are not covered and they dont show off better products its the actual college.. so really lets not put down the college tutors because they are just doing their job and teaching what they have been told to teach. Because im sure if they had it their way they would be adding those little extras in and using better products xx

Joanne you are so correct the tutors hands are tied and have to teach according to the standard set by the govening body NVQ SVQ etc.

And sometimes when we do add a little extra only some of the students appreciate this, (poor tutor in a no win situation).

I am very luck that my college offers the students a quality producut with a tutor that know her stuff. I would very much like to see this the case nationwide (mmmm well Maybe one day) I can but dream.

Its really nice to hear that your college are up to date with all the new products and ways of learning and i also would love to see this elsewhere in th uk.xx

I may sound totally stupid right now, but to 'prep' a nail, is it to do cuticle work, take the shine off the natural nail and any existing product? because that is all we have been taught.

well I'm just stumped that some girls don't research the colleges before they sign up for a course! I did, hence I did my course at Lincoln college and not my native Boston!

Lincoln college is excellent and the training I got in all areas of beauty, including nail technology was fantastic.

I placed my post with my feelings on the training I had in the collage.
With hindsite I probably should have done more research into the quality of the training but as I had attended the same collage the year before to do my level2 beauty training ( this was good training) and having spoken to the girls that had done their nail training that year I was given the impression that the training was good, mayby they didn't know any better and thought that the training they were given was good.
These are the reasons and those mentiond in my previous post, for choosing this collage above any other.
Oh and 1 more thing there is very little choice of collages in my area...the nearest other collage is 60 miles away and in another county, therfore I would not be eligable for a place in this collage unless there was a spare, last minite, vacancy and I was willing to stump up nearly £1000 for the privalage of being educated in another county.

I researched college courses, as I wanted to get the VTCT/NVQ in nail technology or similar and found it virtually impossible. There was nothing available within a reasonable distance or time frame for actually getting the darn thing.

In the end, I opted to do mine externally with a private establishment who had an assessor. It really does rely on me and what I already know, as it's extremely part time. I will say, though, that my assessor does know her stuff and has trained with one of the most respected nail companies herself. :)
