I love wearing nail polish and makeing sure I have neat, pretty nails, but I find that the top layer of my nail sometimes starts to peel or chip off, leaving a rough surface below and, whether I am wearing polish or not, I get an uneven finish. I think this must just be because of a lack of strength in my nails... so any advice on what I can do to strengthen them? Thanks

Rubber gloves for everything. I don't wash up a single cup unless I am wearing them, or clean the bath or peel the potatoes etc. Buy the largest size gloves .. if you buy them to fit, when you take them off they will go inside out and you will not be bothered to put them the right way round again and you will not wear them. The big ones are on and off in a second.

Peeling and flaking nails are often as a result of harsh chemicals - washing up liquid and cleaning products!

You could also try solar oil to keep nails hydrated and cuticles soft, and a basecoat that will even out impurities on the nail so you get a nice even finish to the nail with your polish. Don't forget a top coat.

I have never used salon systems gel but I am wondering how good a product it actually is???? Which may be why its cracking.

I'm sorry if this isn't much help for you but I have a feeling that you may find more success with a better quality product.

Having said that let me remind you that I have no knowledge of Salon Systems gel lol.

Like the ladies have said get some good quality cuticle oil and use at least twice daily.

Always use a good base and top coat and I always try not to remove to often (Nearly daily at one point!) or at the same time dont leave on for too long(Toes can sometimes get stained but this is reduced with a good base).

Keep them healthy and conditioned and you will start to see the difference xx
