Hi Geeks

I am only qualified in Natural nails and Shellac and I often struggle if I have a client in who has cracked a nails or especially when they have broken a nail completely off.

I have never been trained to use silk/fibreglass etc so am unsure how to repair cracks. I am going to get some silk and have a practice though.

My biggest concern is when someone comes in having broken one of their lovely long nails off and there's nothing I can do. What do you do if youh aven't been trained in L&P/sculpting etc.

Is there a course I can take just for this?I did get told my CND educator could teach me how to do this but she has said she cant.

I feel I will lose a lot of clients unless I can sort this.

Would really appreciate some help.

You need to learn how to enhance nails ... simple. You are in the same boat as many people who have gone all out to do natural nails only but then (of course) find that they do need to enhance some peoples nails when there are problems.

You need to do a CND Brisa Hard Gel/Brisa Lite Removable Sculpting gel class and then you can really do it all.

This makes some interesting reading too.

I think you will find that many many people have limited their scope by ignoring enhancements as a service and we are already seeing a re-surge toward enhancements because of it. Limiting your scope means fewer clients or unhappy clients.

Thankyou Geeg

I had thought this might be the case, I thought there may a shorter option given what I aim to use it for but looking like there isn't. I had always thought it was a huge expense just to enable me to repair a few nails but I guess if I retain those clients it's worth doing.

Would the Brisa Lite Sculpting course cover all my needs?

Is there not a way I could simply learn to apply a tip to a nail for these occasions?

Thankyou for your reply.

Without doing training you won't get insured to do just the odd tip. I'm in the same position as you and didnt want to train in enhancements but as Geeg says there really is no way around it if we want to be able to provide a full service to our clients.
I'm now saving up! Xx

Thats a very good point.

Saving it is. I will called Sweet Squared later to get a price on the sculpting course and aim for that, wont be this year though!

Thankyou all

No, there really isn't; not with CND .. it would just lower the standard we set for our enhancement technicians. One would be able to buy enhancement products but not have the full training .. uh uh! It would be back door into buying professional use only products for those who have no proper qualifications. We won't compromise when what we do is to serve and protect our professionals. Sorry, but I have to say the training will serve you in very good stead for the future because I promise you, you will not always be doing natural nails and by doing one repair at a time you will be able to perfect that perfect nail in time, and be able to do 10 when asked.

Even though you only want to repair a few nails now, enhancement training will open up a whole new bunch of clients to you. Since I've been wearing my Brisa lite sculpting gel nails, I've had clients who've only ever had Gelish want to try it out.

I really want to learn enhancements but particularly to train to use the Brisa Lite Sculpting rather than L&P. I began training (and paid for! ) in enhancements when I did my initial training years ago but I was so rubbish at it that it put me off. I then fell pregnant so didn't ever complete it (or was the perfect excuse not to at the time anyway)

If there is going to be a dedicated course for Brisa Lite Sculpting then I'd be really interested in that, as everyone's stories on here so far about it excite me :D It would also suit my clientele as I've not once been asked for enhancements as they all want damage free natural nails. Being able to enhance their nails using a product like BL would be right up their street as well as mine :)

Of course! Sorry Geeg, didnt even think of that side of things, makes perfect sense.

I just know I am not going to be any good at enhancements! Practice practice practice I guess and like you said one nail at a time!

best get saving!
