Hi all. I'm new to this forum and just need some advice about my hair. I had it dyed dark brown, but wanted to go light. I went to a new stylist who had great reviews on Yelp. She put in some highlights, but they turned out very brassy and uneven. I went back and she highlighted it again (turned out brassy still, but better), but completely skipped most of the back. So, I went to my usual stylist and had the back bleached and toner put on. Now my hair's very uneven. It has some dark brown still in the front between the highlights (not much) and is a cooler tone because of the toner and is a medium golden blonde in the back.

I hate it, but my husband has banned me from spending more money on my hair (ridiculously expensive to get such horrible hair). So, would getting a box dye and dyeing it dark blonde or light brown help even it out?

BTW, first appointment was April 26th, second was May 6th, and third was May 12th.

Try your local college you'd be great for a level 3, very reasonable prices too.

Thanks for the advice Jade. Unfortunately, my husband nixed that idea too. So, I'm going to have to do it myself. Any recommendations of demi vs semi permanent? I should go with a neutral tone, right? Or should I do ashy?

Both stylists should have told you that they wouldn't get it really bright first time. You're guaranteed a golden tone when lifting out dark colour and toners can only do so much.

As said above a college would be the cheapest option. Usually you hardly pay anything compared to the service you have.

Tell him it would cost X amount for a box colour and X amount for the college so your going with the college.

We can't give you any colour advise as to products to use. Sorry.

Why don't you try a silver shampoo on the golden parts
