I am mobile, 6 weeks ago I had a new client. Long hair, base 6, had highlights before in a salon, did highlights using Wella 12/11 and bleach. Colour was lovely!

She has just phoned me to say shes done a home colour all over. It was the Schwarzkopf XXL Platinum Blonde, the lightest shade!! She said its gone very yellow on the natural hair.

Im going to see her tomorrow to see if I can do anything. Can anyone give me any advice please? Was thinking of either a few bleach foils to lift it, or maybe a dark colour to tone it down. Ive never dealt with the Live Colours so dont know how they affect the condition of the hair

Thanks :)

hiya! i would do a strand test to see how it goes first, you can't be too careful with these kind of DIY jobs:rolleyes: xx

Yeah thats what ive said to her, i'll go look at it first then do strand tests if I think its do-able.

Why do people do home colours

breaking it up with a few bleach foils would be a good Idea

I would be leary putting more bleach to her head....sounds like toner and lowlights might save her alot of damage. You can always add more highlights after her hair has recovered some.

I deffo wouldn't put any more bleach on her hair. Chances are going over that Live colour with bleach, her hair will jus snap.
I agree, tone and some lowlights to break it up.

Hopefully this may teach her a lesson about putting box colours over all your hard work.

What about a prepig, then a ash over, like 7.1?
And then let the hair rest a few weeks and then take foils?

Hell fire this is xxl is a nightmare to get out because it has a silicone base that doesn't come out of the hair. I went to do a strand test on a client with this stuff and it fried whilst test. You could try a Demi colour as it's acid based and will cut through the silicone plus it won't damage the hair. It's the only thing I could think of when my client did the same thing but colour bathing or bleaching is really going to cause too much stress on the hair. Good luck

wow i never knew that they.were silicone based!!

Oh what a nightmare. People use these xxl colours a lot don't they? I honestly can't say I've ever seen what I'd class as a decent result from these colours. What makes them so special?? I guess people are easily duped into believing they will give you true to picture results? Like most other box colours. Is there small print somewhere on these boxes that says "chances are, your colour WON'T look like this"?!

Well I went to look at her hair yesterday, its a mess!!!! Its so patchy where she has missed bits thru the back, and it was very yellow!!! Ive said to her to find a salon with a colour specialist, as im mobile I dont want to take the risk, and also it would take so long to do anything with it.

Thanks for the replies everyone :)

And even my colour specialists have problems correcting it.

A few years ago my teenage daughter went to a friends house and put xxl cosmic black blue on her hair :Scared:It was hideous it took six washes just to get the colour off her skin around the hair line. It didn't fade much either just stuck in there like super glue  ended up cutting her hair into a funky short style and had to let it grow out .. put quasi on re growth at regular intervals to get a colour match 'ish .. what a relief when it had all gone told her never again but some people never learn :grr:

..you are so dead right to advise going to a colour specialist goodness only knows how much it'll cost to have it put right though ..
