Hi,

This is my first post - I hope this is in the right section, Here goes.

I have always done my own acrylic nails at home, I was taught this a few years back via a friends mum, Who was a qualified nail technician.
(Self employed*)

I used to do this often for friends too, But I never charged, I was just given some money for replacement of products or had (Nail) stuff given to me - Replacing what I used.

However, I stopped doing this for a while, But I’m ready to restart. I was hoping that I could start getting paid if I was offered the work.
- I have however had many people ask me to do their nails, But I’m a little worried that because I’ve never been taught (By a college, Tutor ect.) I would be in trouble should anything go wrong??

I’m not even sure if I could get insurance if I never had a qualifications.

I have no idea how I could find out the information needed? I cant ask my friends mum, As I lost contact with them many years ago!?

Welcome to Salon Geek

If you need any help finding your way around, please ask one of the Geek Guides in My Forum.

Take some time to look at the Forums, Tutorials, Articles, Social Groups, Blogs etc, to familiarise yourself with the site.

In the meantime, the search facility will give you access to numerous posts and threads (including training, courses and recommendations), which will in turn help to answer many questions. If not, then threads should be posted to whichever forum is best relevant, since only Guides and Staff can read threads in My Forum.

Without the correct qualifications, you will not be able to get insurance cover, so an investment in some training and education would be the most sensible way to move forward.

Hope that helps.

PS: Don't forget to introduce yourself to the Guides and Staff in My Forum.
