Quick question !

Do you sanitise your nail files or change to a new one for each client?

This came up in a discussion and wondered what peoples practices are ?

Some files can be sanitised and others can't

I use washable files able to be submerged and sterilised, I use a clean file per client and then use the same procedure as when I sterilise my metal tools at the end of the day, works brilliantly for me and generates a lot less waste.

How do you sterilise your tools?

Scrub with soap and water, rinse, put them in my large sterilisation jar with barbicide solution and leave them in there for the required time.

I always sanitizer my files but keep that file in a clear zip able plastic bag with their name on and use the same tools for that customer until they need to be replaced

I think there is a mundo spray for sanitizing files isn't there? Would that work the same way?

Also , ( sorry to jump on your post Nikki !) Anna , do you steralize your tools during the day between clients or just once at the end of the day?

I too use washable files that I scrub with soap and water and then sterilize. Repeat clients have their own file that goes into a zip lock bag with their name on and others are re-used and sterilized maybe 2-3 times before being binned.
I clean and sterilize after each client so I can keep the clients bag next to the files so there are no mix ups

I work part time so only have max 2 clients in the evenings, I have 2 sets of tools and use one fresh set per client. Once I'm done for the day I then clean both sets, ready for the next day. :)

I use separate files for every client.
I sanitise after their appointment and pop in a zip lock bag with their client card. I use these until they need replacing.

Yes there is it's called file & abrasive spray. :)

I wash & scrub files, allow to dry then spray with the file & abrasive spray. x

What do you scrub the files with? I'm in training at the moment and just started manicure module

I use a nail brush x

Individual files for each client, sanitised at the beginning of the treatment and stored in a paper envelope (I found the abrasives went mouldy if there was any hint of moisture in zip lock bags) in their file between appointments.

Metal tools washed after each client and sanitised with abrasives before (as per above)

Tools should be sanitised between each client

I have a file for each client and store them in a paper envelope with their name on it between visits.

I continue to use this file until its worn out then the client gets a new one.

There is no need to sanitise as its used for the one client.

HTH

Can I ask where you all buy your files from?

I use NSI durafiles. I've tried others but they aren't the same quality

I'm a fan of NSI files too, particularly the black cushion 180/240 grit ones.

I'd tried others lately as I no longer use NSI l&p so shipping is expensive just for files but there was a huge difference!
I'd like to try the turtle files
