Hey everyone,

I've recently qualified in nails last week
(gels, gel extensions and acrylics.)
I done my hair extension course a few years ago but was also working full time so didn't have time to do anything with it other than fit my own or my friends hair.

Now I have a 2 year old, I'd like to go forward with nails.

I'm not sure if I want to go mobile or into a salon as of yet.

I don't have any problems, just looking for any friendly advice any of you might have for my first steps into this industry. It's all new to me as I worked in the oil & gas for 6 years since leaving school :).

All comments and recommendations welcome

Thank you. X

Anyone any advice? [emoji85]

Hi Kayleigh and congratulations!
I'm relatively new to nails and started mobile initially but decided that it wasn't for me. I felt that too much time was spent travelling/setting up etc. I now work from my home salon which means I can also work when my kids are home.
I don't have any advice for going into a salon but if you decide to go self employed I'd suggest using a good quality professional brand and lots of advertising. Friends and family until you've built a good customer base and lots of practice and photos of your work.
Good luck xx

Hey, thanks for your reply!

As much as I'd love to work from home, I don't have a spare room and don't fancy converting half of any rooms in my house so either mobile or a salon it is, for now until I get a bigger house [emoji85].

I have also thought about a log cabin, in the garden. I quite like the idea. Do you think that would work or would client think 'on a shed'?

Thanks for your advise.
What do you use for advertising? Facebook etc?

Thank you :) x

All of my clients are from FB and recommendation.
Search on here as there are threads and some very recent re cabins x

Where did you train lovely? Would you recommend the course? Xx

I done the complete nail technician course through capital hair and beauty.

Loved it, a lot to take in, in a week though. The trainer was absolutely lovely, really helpful. There was a few things I thought could have been better such as good brushes etc but other than that, I can't complain [emoji108] x

Thx!

I am looking into booking a complete nail technician course and I'm Stuck between capital and the nail and beauty acdemy course. So I've been looking every where for reviews on both with not much luck! Did capital offer you aftercare and support if needed?
