I have a client who loves one of my normal polish colours (can't get a match in gel) but wants it to last longer than a normal polish.

Is it possible to do a normal polish and apply a gel top coat?

I realise this isn't ideal but might be an alternative for someone who likes the colour?

If anyone has done this please share experiences and how you applied each layer.

Thanks

There is a clear gel that you can mix with normal polish to make it a gel polish, think it's called Chroma Gel

I probably wouldn't do it on clients at the salon where I work because I can't promise the same longevity as say a full gel manicure, so maybe it's something you would have to make her aware of if she is really desperate for that colour.

I personally do it on myself quite often though, using whichever gel top coat I have (in my case NSI Polish Pro which is what I happen to have at home). Using regular nail polish, I do the usual base, two coats of colour, top coat (I usually do this before bed, you want to wait as long as you can. 12-24 hours) and then in the morning I will apply the gel top coat (2 coats gives me great wear since I have to deal with acetone and all that stuff at work). When it comes to removal, you do the usual soak off. May be good to very gently buff/file off the top coat before soaking. I do find I get polish left in the cuticles/side walls if I'm not careful but I use a cotton bud and acetone to clean that up.

I do gel top coats frequently at my salon. The main issue is making sure the traditional polish is dry before the gel top. CND VInylux dries very quickly and works great. I did also just get a product that converts traditional polish to gel ( gelibility) I am only a couple of days into testing it and so far so good. I converted Zoya into a gel. Pretty amazing because Zoya usually takes forever to dry.
