Hi, Im currently half way through doing my NVQ 2 and will be done around December, I then will be doing a Barbaring course over 6 weeks, after which my tutors have told me that they think I am good enough to do my Level 3, only thing is its a VRQ 3 not an NVQ 3, and I have no idea how that compares. The have said it is a slightly lower level but it still doesnt mean much to me. I know that unless you have an NVQ 3 you wouldnt be able to teach etc etc in the future, and I guess I dont want to pend another year doing a course if it doesnt mean very much.

If anyone could please give me some good advice please!!!

Thank you

All the hard work you go through with a nvq us well worth it I'd stay with nvq all the way!! If you want to teach, travel and do other things after you will need it!!
Xxxxxxx

Hi, thank you, So VRQ 3 isnt worth it?

I don't really no 100% what they are but I do no you carnt do as much with on as a nvq and

And a employer would want a fully qualified hairdresser as a senior member it just depends on what you want out of hairdressing and the path you want to take! If it is just a job to pay bills then I don't think it matters but if you want to go further I'd go for the best even if it us a little harder! but from experience you do need a good clientele to do it well though!! Are you doing it at a college or a aprentership!? Xxxx

Great thank you. Im studying 2 days a week on 39 week course for nvq 2 at the mo and love it. My hair academy doesnt offer the NVQ3 though only the VRQ3, and i really dont want to go on a longer normal college course. I would of done a more fast tracked course in london for level 3 but far too expensive at 8k plus!!!!

Customer-Centric

This will give you an idea of the difference between VRQ and NVQ

That is a lot why do you have to pay for your level 3!? xx

Thanks Sassi!
I have to pay cause I am 32 and not on any benefits. I haven't paid 8k for my level two (that was just the costs when I looked up V Sasson and l'oreal) but I have paid a fair amount still. I have two v little kiddies so I decided to retrain and do something more fun and social than working in London finance etc etc. I have a lot of managerial experience so I'm hoping that once I get the knowledge I might be able to buy/invest in a salon etc, but all in good time, and with some ground experience.

Is there not a part time college you can go to!? I'm doing a college course in beauty and I have to pay as it's my second nvq but there is all ages in the group and most of them it's there first nvq and dont have to pay a thing! But I'm not in London so I don't no about courses down there! Xx
