As I said waffle why not ring your educator or supplier ? Use their instructions and then see if you have problems.

Do you use recommended products ? Ie household foil? If not I would think this maybe were your problem lies xx

Hi, The Young Nails office has been shut all over the Xmas period but I will phone 1st thing tomorrow. However, I have followed their removal instructions to the letter and this is why I'm so surprised it hasn't worked! I've used all their reccommended products and yes, household foil but I also tried warm acetone as per their instructions too and that didin't work either. Obviously, we got them off in the end but I had to buff quite a bit and hubbys boss won't let me buff/file her nails (she's got a phobia of filing I think) and that's why she chose the soak off gel in the first place as opposed to the hard gel as she doesn't want any filing/buffing. I have to agree really, why class something as a soak off if you still need to file/buff the shine off first??............

Hi hun, think you've missed page one of your own thread, I've told you how to get the foil to stay on, and someone else has given links to all the main suppliers of the magi wraps:hug:

Mmm as I said take a look at your prev thread where you was agreeing with regal. My nn client would not let me bear them with a buffing block or file on their plate and si rightly so.

If you are usin a product you should believe in it, do you belive in your product? Do you love it? Wear it? Understand it? If not why, if so then you should know the answer.

Hiya Waffle,

Shellac, in my limited newbie experience, can last anything from 4 days to 3 weeks, it really does depend on your client and their lifestyle.

I use it religiously and find it lasts the full 2 weeks, could last longer except I get bored and want to change the colour and the regrowth is obvious. BUT I have had a client whereby it has only lasted a few days and it's chipped - hey ho!

Shellac soaks off in about 10 mins and I use Magis to soak off on clients nails, if Shellac has been on longer than 2 weeks sometimes it takes a few mins longer to breakdown.

I'm not slagging ManiQ off at all, I think it's a great product that allows us to use up ANY colour nail varnish which is great for clients and it could be that I'm just not used to it, so I'm glad I've seen this thread. I will give it another whirl and see how I get on with it, it won't personally replace Shellac (for my nails - because for me personally I love it) but I won't lie and say it works for every client I've used it on because it hasn't and has lost me a couple of customers because it has chipped within the 2 weeks but I guess nothing is foolproof and I'm also aware I'm still learning the art of application.

:)

l:lol:
. Then I sit the hands on top of a heat pad and put a towel

HAHAHAHAH In my hysterical state I thought you said "sit ON the hands"!!!! (mmm bet that would warm them up!!............)

I did use that bowl thing which clips the hot water underneath but they really did need a good scrape after 40 mins so maybe it wasn't hot enough?.............

Will defo buff more of the top layer off, although the reason hubbs boss wanted soak off gel is because she detests filing so she's not gonna be happy (gulp). Also, I know she will be inspecting her nails after the soaking/buffing/scraping and my daughters looked awful yesterday so hubbys boss aint gonna like that (double gulp)...........

My point is and was did YN advertise mani -q to be mixed with any ordinary enamel? If so did they offer instuctions ? Did they give advice on removal ? Ratios? As not all polishes contain the same ingredients ( dohh the chemistry thing again lol)

And secondly why has no one ever thought " hey let's mix a little bit of polish with gel and see what happens " well they have and guess what??? Problems have arisen, hence why CND spent over 2 yrs researching in their labs a product that will have propertys of a gel ie, shine chip resistant, yet goes on and removes like a polish.

Please do let us know how you get on, and stop worrying, it'll rub off on your client. Just be matter of fact and relaxed about it. Good luck xx

It is actually on the Young nails website, and there are instructions along with advised ratios. It's clear that you don't really agree with the concept, but unfortunately it comes across as though you are giving the OP a hard time. If you are really concerned about the chemistry etc. maybe the best thing to do would be to make your own enquiries with Young Nails.
The OP has only done as her trainer and distributor has advised

:hug:Cor, big brave hugs to you, yes, I did follow all instructions/ratios etc and didn't just come up with some mad concoction to chuck on unsuspecting clients nails (The client CHOSE the ManiQ mix!).

Thankyou for your support and I will chill out and act professional and blind her with my witty conversation so she doesn't notice anything.............

I am not intent on being Nasy, I was mearly saying I noticed you had posted in a thread only the other day askning about Mixing polish with gel? Yes????

So my opinion is as I have said above no need to repeat. I am sorry you seem blind to listening to anyone whom doesnot agree with you.

Loobi, I am not causing trouble If you look at my profile you will see how many posts etc ,, so I'm sure you will take that back , as I am offended.

Yes I did ask in a thread the other day about how to mix with the ManiQ because I was unsure how to get the exact ratios (YN say do 50-50). I took the geeks advice and the mix came out lovely, the client was over the moon with it. So what's your problem then with that?!

Yes, I am having problems soaking it off but it is probably my fault as I am not used to soaking off having mainly used hard gels for so long, in fact I'd probably even have problems soaking off your beloved shellac until I got used to it.

You seem to have an enormous chip on your shoulder, that anyone or anything not associated with CND is mad, bad or dangerous but you are obviously ill informed about the ManiQ mix so I agree with Louise, if you're that worried, phone YN yourself and speak to them

Waffle I have problems with people not using correct products or following manufacturers instructions to the latter then problems arising and wonder why.

I am sorry but I do not have an enormous chip on my shoulder and yes I love my products I am passionate about nail care in general and to accuse me of what you have is a bit silly IMO but hey what do I know .

.

You don't seem to get this, but I HAVE been using correct products and following manufacturers instructions!. I have obviously not buffed off the top layer enough and applied the cotton ball and foil correctly, but now I have ordered some magi wraps and will buff more off next time. I too am passionate about nail care and my products which is why I didn't offer a soak off gel until I was happy with the staying power, and myself and my client were extremely happy with the ManiQ mix. I also, do not look down my nose at people who use different products to me. There is room in this industry for more than 1 brand and it all depends on what works for the individual nail tech and their clients.

You are entitled to your opinion, just you have a very harsh way of going about it as I have also noticed from your previous threads.
