OMG, pls help

dear Ladies,
have seen a nail like this before?


This is my nail after having gel nails for 6 months and do not take the signs seriously. I went to the the doctor after removing gel from my nail, he said it is fungus. But right after removing gel they got much better (3 nails involved) and totally healthy within 2 months w/o anti-fungus treatment sue to breast feeding. I guess fungus would not disappear so fast.
Do you think it is acrylic allergy? it happened 2 times with me, once when I was pregnant, but removed the gel nails immediatelly, the then during breast feeding period, but then I suffered for 6 months with the artificial nails. I was very painful. Please advice what it was and can I have nice nails again? which gel should be used? thanks a lot

It's very very unusual to see fungas on fingernails, it's usually associated with toe nails.

You do have Onycholysis which means that the nail plate has lifted from the nail bed. (usually happens because of trauma)

Did you remove the gel yourself?... be honest, because this may have been what caused the damage, not the gel itself.

If you use a good Cuticle oil twice a day and massage it in your nails should be back to themselves in no time.

Im not sure about acrylic allergy as I work with Brisa a hypoallergenic gel..anyway could it be over filing on your own nails ? too heavy handed with the grit file perhaps?

I agree this looks like onycholysis-separating of the nail from the nail bed.

Sorry, I was not clear. My nails looked like this DURING the 6 months I visited the saloon. I mean the nail plate was lifted from the skin, and the skin around the nail was red and painful, even at my fingerprints the skin was damaged. I removed the gels only 4 weeks after the last visit in the saloon, but I was not the problem. I removed 7 with no injury, but 3 of my fingers were in bed condition several months before the removal. But the manicurist kept going the filling the gel since we though I am allergic to something else, like a shampoo or something else, not the acryl.
There were no trauma, however 3 fingers were involved in this, on my right hand, so fingers that I use the most. But no trauma. This picture was taken in Aug and got better by Nov, the question is shall I go the the saloon again, and what gel to be used on my nails?

This is still onycholysis, it would happen during the the time you had the nails on.

Do you know if the Salon you used is NSS? (Non Standard Salon)

They may not have been, but either way, I don't think I would return if you were experiencing problems like this from the start.

There are a lot of brilliant Nail Companies that have a great reputation, if you ring one of them they can recommend a Nail Technician to you.

Of course it is possible that you may have had an allergic reaction... try a product that is hypo allergenic next time and see how you get on. (both gels I use are hypo allergenic, Bio Sculpture and Brisa gel)

hi, I also have onycholysis and have just changed to gelish and have found the nail to be less sore, also no filing involved which is probably what causes the problem in the first case, glad to hear the cleared up quickly, wish mine would
