Oh, how I love this buffer. It is truly wonderful. Unbelieveably shiny nails with very little work.

Anyway, my question: Are there any other brands out there like it that aren't $2.50 a piece? I seem to use them up pretty quickly.

Thanks, Keri

Hi ya

I also use ONS, however, I never got a great effect from the miricle shinner. Would you let me know your filing process from grit used to miricle shinner. I am currently opting for using the acrylic sealer, however, would love to get them up to a fab shine without. I am using INM 240 grit buffer board to get the initial bit done, much more flexable and quicker than using a file. Any advice grately apreciated.

Kind Regards

Hi Gina:

I start with my 100 grit file and then move to the 150 cushioned file. Then I go right to the shiner rougher side first and then smooth side. I get a truly beautiful shine. I do buff fast, maybe the quicker speed of the buffer makes it shine more. Don't give up. I am going on a week and still have a great shine, no polish at all.

I am obsessive about buffing the finishing shine and found the ONS amazing after using the first 2 sides of a 3 way. However....... I've now found an even better one! It is cheaper and lasts much longer (maybe as many as 3 full hands now!) It is made by Alida and caller the Super Shiner. They can be bought singly or in packs.

Love it :D

Crickey only 3 uses,

May I ask is this just for session work or do you apply this rule to salon sets?

Hi Louise
I find the really 'super' shiners wear out really fast. Told you I was obsessive!! They prob do a couple more but I don't differentiate between sessions and salon for a good finish. (Shape and painting maybe but a great shine is a great shine)

Hi guys thanks for your input,

With regard to starting off with a 100 grit, I always found this a bit too coorse, I normally start with 150, then 240. I shall give your version a go now, and have ordered some more 'miricles'. Not all that fast on the old buffer, by that stage my dodgy shoulder is already a touch on the delacate side, however, if full steam ahead is required well here goes!

Kind Regards

A hint on finishing: Geeg has often said and is absolutely right, sculpt with your brush, not with your buffer.

You should aim to use a white block after the overlay, or at the very least a 240 grit. If you need courser then you are removing mistakes. This takes time and is unecessary. Then you need to work your way up the 'grits' to get rid of the scratches to get to the shine. More wasted time.

Get your overlay right and all you have to do is unleash the shine :D
