I work on a percentage of my takings basis at a salon (UK)
The salon supplies the products and takes 60%
I get the other 40% as my wages
Am I correct in thinking this isn’t a great deal or is it the industry standard ??
I’ve asked for some movement but the owner seems unwilling to budge
I have brought lots of my own clients with me from my previous salary based appointment along with 19 years experience but i feel even on a good week I’m not getting the £££s I should

As you are self-employed it's all up to you to decide what to charge, get more clients and do the marketing for your business. 60/40 split is standard industry split with the 60 going to whoever supplies the products.

Maybe put your prices up? :)

As @BannerPenguin says, maybe consider increasing your prices if you're not earning enough. Alternatively, you could look around to see whether you’d get a better deal in another salon. It’s your business, so it’s up to you to make it work.
