Hi
Having just trained and after hours of reading and researching which waxing system to go with and the type of wax, I think I'm nearly there!

I will be mobile, so did not know if a roller system would be better than pot and spatula, but it seems to be that the pot and spatula is better, or i should say perfered, even for mobile.

I think that I need to go with both a hot and warm wax (I hope that's right)
I'm looking at Perron Rigot as that seems to have come up with many good reviews.

On an old post someone mentioned about using hot wax for face, bikini and intimate areas, warm wax for eyebrows and the cartridge system for legs.

If I have a hot and warm wax, do I really need a roller as well?

Thanks

No you don't, I would use the warm wax for legs aswell x

You don't need a cartridge roller if you don't want one my lovely.

I prefer them for speed and ease and would hate to be without it.

However, lots of geeks prefer the pot and spatula for legs and other large areas.

It's a personal preference :wink2:

Hi
Which roller system do you use?

Salon System cartridge system.

Mine holds three cartridges but sometime ago they withdrew that and now only offer a single unit for mobile use.

One unit on it's own is not much use, you need at least two so that when the first one is empty you replace the cartridge so it can heat up and move on to cartridge number two.

I really don't understand why they made that decision.

Perron Rigot also do a cartridge system. They sell their's in single units also but you can link them together so you can have 2 or 3 which is a great idea.

I would say that even though you may end up using a roller if you have just trained it is best to master the pot and spatula first. Its a basic technique that once perfected you don't forget and you never know when you may need to do it especially if you intend to work in salons in the future. They may not have a roller system.

Ppersonally I use Pot & Spat fir most waxing but roller for legs. Using a roller doesn't mean you aren't a confident waxer, you just prefer the convenience.

I use the Hive Mini Multi Pro heater that holds three cartridges ... Either 80g or 100g. It is about what you are most comfortable with. The PR tins are great for mobie as the lids are heat resistant so no spills!!

I've just looked at the Hive pro heater.

It looks like it will hold three of the cartridges I would normally use but there is no picture of the unit/sleeve/cover/ that the cartridge slots into.

Do you purchase these separately? I looked through every page but could not find them.

Thank you

You just put the cartridge directly into the heater ... No sleeve. I usually use a strip or two to hold it while applying and then pop it back into the heater.

Oh.

Interesting.

I am assuming then that this works ok or you wouldn't be using it!

I have used the same roller system for years but am definitely going to need to replace it within the next year.

Thank you for the info x

The great thing is that the headers aren't expensive! Particularly if you take advantage of a VAT free offer.

Certainly compared to Perron Rigot's cartridge system this one is very reasonable.

I just need to get my head around holding the cartridge without a sleeve.

Last question - Which brand of wax do you use in the heater?

I use the PR Homme wax ... It's a lovely wax.

So do you just decanter the PR wax into thed hive containers. I have recently switched to PR and am loving it.

A but a lovely client recently gave me the hive roller system, a phd system and 1000 wax pot all virtually brand new (she used to own a salon). I want to try the hive roller one and have previously read that people do decanter.

Thanks

I use clean and easy which i love. I agree that one roller cartridge just isnt enough if you have a busy day of waxing.
I will look into the PR one that can be linked together.

Ive started using one cartridge per customer then throwing whats left away and cleaning and steralising the heads. I mention this to clients so they know that it hasnt been used on anyone else as i feel the only draw back with roller sysytems is the hygiene problem (Dont like Phd). I never double dip with pot and spatula. My clients love that they dont have to worry about who its been used on but it does cause lots of wastage.

It's my understanding that with the fixed head cartridges the wax flows out and not back in so no contamination.

Once you have cleaned the head it is good to go again for the next client.

That is a huge amount of waste if you have only done a half leg wax!!

Sorry if I'm repeating but not read all the replies.

Rollers are great for mobile therapists but it's only strip wax.

You should always master the pot and spatula and use hot and strip wax if you can. But sometime is you're mobile, you can only do what you can do.

With rollers like the clean and easy the wax can flo back into the cartridge so i think sometimes dead skin or blood product, if they an ingrown hair that comes out when waxing etc, will also get into the cartridge. I know the Phd and australian body care do a no contamination roller system but i find these much harder to use and it does take me longer.

Yes 1/2 cartridge of wax if im only doing a 1/2 leg but i think this is a small price to pay. I clean the heads with wax remover first then steralise. I have quite a few heads then if i have a busy day i can pop them on one side and steralise them all together at the end of the day.

If you think it's a small price to pay then it is!! xx

Even better if the wastage is accounted for in the waxing treatment price.

Peace and respect xx
