ok have had a couple of different camera......and i only know with windows xp that when you put your memory stick or cf card in to the lead or connect your camera to the pc it automatically reads it and downloads it using windows picture and fax viewer ,...i have never ever used in software that came with my cameras as windows xp does'nt need it.
Hope i have been of a little help

Thats what I thought and believe it or not thats what it says in the camera instruction manual. Im really confused, its saved the pics from the memory card into internet explorer, and there is no move option to move the files. So Im having to do a wild goose chase to find the flaming pics. Why didnt I marry a computer geek lol

I am no computer buff but I have had real trouble with my PC lately and my Windows XP is not reading anything that I plug in.

The only way I have managed to get my pics downloaded from camera to PC is by this:

In Start Menu go to Windows Explorer (Mine is in Accessories)
In there click on the plus sign of My Computer (Left hand side)
In there you should find Removable Device - click on the plus sign
This should bring up the name of your camera - click on it

Go to Edit (across top of page)
Click on Select All
Click Edit again
Click Copy to Folder

This will bring up another box - In there you should be able to find My Pictures
Click on My Pictures (if you make sure it has a minus sign and then go down a bit and click New Folder you will be able to download all pictures in this)

Click Copy and this should do it!!!

I really hope this has helped you and it works .....although I may not be very good at explaining it   :wink2:

Have you got a folder that is called "My Pictures"
Mine is located in the My Document on my pc......
If you have great.........

Go to My documents find the My Pictures folder............ click it on.......
Then on the left hand side of the opend browser window you will find, this under picture task..... click on the get pictures from camera or scanner, make sure your camera is connected to the pc and it might need to be turned on..............
Click the get pictures link and then your camera and scanner wizzard should come up , if your camera is listed great just follow the steps...... make a note where on the pc it is downloading to....

If it isn't listed then maybe a unistall via remove or add software in maintenance will do it...... unistall, reboot pc and then re-install...... reboot to make sure pc has accepted the new hardware.........follow the install instruction to the T...... sometimes software has to be loaded before you can connect.......
You know if it has worked because a found new hardware message will appear........ followed by a new hardware is installed and ready to use....... click the messag on and bingo...........

What make is the camera and what OS are you using, or are you on MAC ????

mmm im baffled to! when you downloaded them did it come up with a box of options? Mine does and i alway opt for the first option that has a piccie of a camera and somethin else

Sarah, I've received a new pic from you, so does that mean you got your problem sorted via all the helpful advice here?

For anybody who is in the same boat with a new camera, I'm really not being smart here, but read the manual. It should tell you what location your photos will be saved to by default. As has been already pointed out above, most modern cameras will near enough install themselves once you connect your usb cable. Take note however, some cameras like the usb cable connected to the pc first, some like the software partially installed first, then the cable plugged in and then the software driver....... read the manual. *S* If you dont, you may end up having to do like Ruth suggests, uninstalling everything and starting again.

Almost forgot.... your new pic is a goodie Sarah, good angle, good quality, excellent! Well worth shelling out your hard earned. :p

my pics tend to be in a 'removeable disk drive'...bet that doesn't help does it!
whilst connected to the camera or smart media card reader, click on 'my computer' and it'll list c drive, d drive etc and there should be a 'removeable disk drive'

Ive just tried what Ruth suggested, clicked my pics and tried to download from camera there but it says camera is not detected. mmmmmm now off to uninstall the whole lot, pc's are not easy are they AAAAHHHHH
