Hi All,
I am relatively new to spray tanning having only completed a very fast C&G in June as an add on to my spa therapies course. I was surprised to realise I really enjoyed spray tanning so I decided to invest in a machine and tent and practice ( once my ins was in place ) I did a short training with the company I bought from.
I have a HVLP 550 Pig machine and for the life of me I cant seem to get the settings right. I have practiced on my niece, have done the couch roll thing, sprayed the white bathroom tiles , gradually opening up the gun to what i thought was the right setting. I sprayed my nieces legs and still the solution went on all speckled, I don't think i was too far or close..I had my speed set on Medium. I am using FantasyTan, which is quite watery, would this be the issue?
Has anyone else got a pig machine that can point me in the right direction as to what I am doing wrong? Im beginning to lose heart atm :|
Also, how is the best way to correct a solution run where you have to actually dab it? I dabbed gently and resprayed the area lightly again.
My niece said her legs turned out okay btw..other than a little area where solution ran at her ankle.
apologies for the long post.

Oops..I guess no one uses the HVLP 550 piggy
I should have went with my gut and bought the TS50, but too late now, I shall continue my battle with the couch roll and tiles till I figure it out :)

If your niece had recently shaved her legs this can cause them to go speckly. I've had it happen a few times and that's the common denominator.

I too use a 550 piggy. I set it to medium and have the screw on the gun out about half way. Some people it goes on better than others, not sure why, but if it's the legs going speckly find out if they've shaved that day...

Thanks Missy.. I did say to her to make sure she had shaved at least 24 hrs prior to her tan, and she did.
I think its more that the solution seems to come out of the gun and speckle/spatter on her skin, I have the setting on medium and set the screw about half way out,( i tested on couch roll before with screw completely closed and gradually allowing more solution through the gun until i had what i thought was a good spray)
Perhaps I am spraying too close or wonder would the low setting work better if maybe I'm spraying too slow..

Turn the setting up to full speed and it will reduce any speckling. I have the 700 version and it makes a huge difference x

I have the 700 and found exactly the same when I was using it. I thought I had cleaned it properly but someone on here suggested buying a cleaning solution especially made for tanning machines and I found this has done the trick!! It seems just soapy water isn't strong enough to clean it out! X
