Basically as I know your all professionals here, i just want your advice on my own hair (i know its not about the industry). I had a full head of bleach highlights around 3 months ago and i absolutely loved it however at £120 and a whopping 3 hours to do i can't really afford to do this regularly and being fed up of the regrowth i was wondering, my friend bought the live xxl colour in platinum blonde and after a couple of go's her hair was a lovely white blonde ( her hair was a mousey brown before) I want an all over blonde colour like hers, so will my bleach highlights affect the dye orr?? Will it turn orange/green??

There's no way it will go green unless there's an ash tone in there and your hi-lights are yellow, but you know yourself box colours have a rule of their own, as I don't touch them wouldn't like to say what it will do, don't reckon it'll do much for the condition of your hair though, especially if you're thinking of giving it a couple of goes. There are so many pro colours out there now adays why do you want to go for box colour?

Only one bit of advice... dont colour your hair yourself-go to a professional who knows what they are doing, im sure you can get it cheaper if you look around, it will cost you a lot more to get a 'mistake' put right!!

If you have black hair then don’t use colors because color is emit bad effect on hair.

I had a client who had full head higights and a toner and like u decided it was getting to expensive to pay out for mind u lol no where near £120 so whilst I was on holiday she called to tell me she had coloured her hair with the dreaded LIVE and she loved the colour but some of her hair snapped off where it weakens it so much she was having to colour every two weeks Cos the root regrowth was more noticeable than when u have wovens so long story short she now has brown hair as her hair got in such bad condition so I would defiantly stay away from live, why don't u look on the netmums site for your area and see if u can get recommended a good home hairdresser if it's simply a price issue for you, its much modern for ur hair to be treated with professional products rather than these diy kits more often than not they will always result in a trip to the hairdressers for colour correction! Xx good luck xx

Hi, the £120....was it for a whole head of highlights, toner and cut and finish? I have clients who need to maintain regrowth but can afford all of it every six weeks. What I offer them is a half head, or a t section to tide them over. this should be alot cheaper. why dont you ask your stylist if she can do this for you? im sure she would suggest anything rather than you ruin all her hard work with a box colour!!
good luck xxx

You are all right lol, i guess i'm being naive looking for a quick fix for this weekend!! The only things is i want an all over bright blonde. I have layers so a t section won't make the underneath of my hair blonde which is what i used to have. The 120 quid was just for the all over bleach highlights, a trim and blowdry, is that very overpriced would you say?

So the only way i can get bright blonde (safely) all over is continuing with the highlights? x

It is not overpriced, about average. If you love the result then stick with highlights but maybe get them done on a model night or at a college to cut costs.
A box colour may be blonde, but it won't look anywhere near as good. Compared to quality highlights, it will look amateur and cheap.

The scariest thing about what you are considering, is that Live is a strong product and when you apply it to your hair, if it even slightly touches any of those beautiful blonde highlights you paid big money for, they will dry up and snap like twigs! The reason it cost you what it did is because it was professionally done, to keep your hair healthy, and the colorist spent alot of time making sure it was applied with knowledge. You always need to consider upkeep when you take on a new do, and sometimes people want things they cant realisticly afford, be it time or money. Ask what sort of mini services can help.....or ask her to take you back to something more suitable for your lifestyle:)
