I have a very close and dear friend who recently lost her job due to a closing of a shop. She is not determined to start an at home hair salon, but she does not know what she needs. If anyone knows of how this process works (NJ area ) or anywhere please comment. I just want to help her and point her in the right direction.
thank you so much!
My hairdresser here in the UK decided to become a mobile hairdresser and I know what she had to do in this country. I should imagine it will be very similar in NJ.
1. She registered a trading name as a limited company using her home address as the registered address.
2. She contacted her local government tax department and talked through what she wanted to do with them. They told her the 1st thing was to find an accountant who would be responsible for keeping her on the straight and narrow.
3. Next I helped her with researching salon quality hair tools.
4. Then I looked for competitors in her area and got prices charged in order for her to be competitive.
5. I suggested she aim her business at the 50+ age range and at the same time do one bride per month until she had a solid clientelle. She stocks a very small supply of skincare.
You must do your own research but hopefully this will help you a little, good luck.
