So on the weekend I, or my business rather, became a sponsor of my 5 year old sons footy club. In exchange for regular promotion and exposure by the organisers of the club, all I need to do is provide a gift voucher for fundraisers etc.
This Saturday they are doing a special little gift bag for all the mums for Mothers Day. I'm going to put something into these bags and have been racking my brain for a promotion that will definitely get them through my door!
A salon I used to work for used to reward clients when they spent x amount of dollars by giving them a voucher for a free 30 min facial with the option of paying a little extra to upgrade to a full hour treatment. Our beds were always full and the appointment book always booked up at least 3 weeks in advance so in a sense it did work to get people in. The idea was that we then had to retail big time.
I'm not afraid of retailing and I'm quite good at it (comes from working for Steiner on cruise ships!) so I know I will make some profit from retailing.
What are your thoughts on running this promotion for the mums? I would make it a 2 month expiry period so they are all finished by the end of the financial year.
I'm going on the thought of "It's better to give something away than to discount it" People don't always expect something for free, but if you discount often enough, they'll expect it all the time.
Even if the majority don't upgrade or purchase product, I still would have them in the salon and have their contact details for my database.
