Hi!

Has anyone used pre designed tips?
If so, how do you prepare them for an acrylic overlay?

i didn't have much success - ordered some yonks ago from nailorder and you need to buff the shine off them very gently - but it didn't matter how gently i did it it took some of the design off. I sent them back and nailorder said it wasn't me it was the tips - but don't know whether i had a bad batch or what, but haven't tried again.

I think you would be better using gel over the top as you dont need to buff the tips first.

I might be wrong, but I thought gel adhered even worse to something shiny than l&p?
I know Pronails do predesigned tips which they say def will not buff off, but you must be able to use the Nail Order ones somehow or they wouldn't still be selling them?? (Love the new pink argyle design that's in their new catalogue which came this morning).
What if you used say a 400 or 600 grit file rather than a white block, would that be enough to remove the shine but not the pattern?
That said, which Nail Order tips did you use, as they used to sell two types but now only sell one. Maybe they stopped stocking the ones which the design came off?
Lol x

Hi Sam,
I've used Pro Impressions tips. Fairly expensive (about 20 quid for 70 tips). They're clear tips, so you don't need to do any blending. I've put Acrylic Dip and The Edge Gel over the top with no prob whatsoever. I can't find their contact number atm, but let me know if you want it!
Regards
TJ

I`ve tried several of them and some do buff off however lightly you do it.
As for the ones that are clear and don`t require blending, you can still see the line of tip underneath the overlay and I don`t like that.
I thought you still had to buff them to apply gel, it doesn`t stick properly otherwise

even if you don't need to blend, you will need to buff to get a good key and this is where i came unstuck - took the design off.
