Problem with 8 ash shade looking slightly golden, missed with 20 1 to 1 ratio

Hey I seem to be having a problem with a level 8 ash shade when applied to roots it sometimes look a bit ginger.. obviously trying to avoid this but wanted to know why does this happen. Has anyone else had this. ??

What are you applying (exact formula) and what level are the roots.

What brand are you using? If you are lifting then you will generally get a warm result
