HI all, looking for a bit of assistance please. I have a potential client who has said that she has tried a few gel polishes and had allergic reactions to them but tried Gelish and is fine, she has asked if I could source some or buy some herself and have me do it ( I will not do the latter), I have never used Gelish but I do know that it is a pure gel rather than a hybrid and was wondering if this may be why, Have you ever experienced similar??.
I have other brands and am trying to find out what are pure gel and what are hybrid just incase.
The brands I have at the moment are :- Mani Q - (pure gel ?) , Cuccio -(?) , OPI - (pure Gel?), Ink London -(hybrid), IBD - (?), Urban Grafitti - (?), Bluesky (?), Gelluv -(?)

I think OPI and Mani Q are pure gel and Ink London is a hybrid, Until I can speak to this client or her friend I do not know what others she has used so would like to sort out what I have first and go from there

Shellac and opi gel colour are hybrid I believe
Urban graffiti and Bluesky are definitely gel
Gellux and IbD seem very similar, gellux is a gel so I imagine ibd is.

Find out what has been tried so far though, and whether it’s for sure a reaction to the gel and not one of the prep products (is she perhaps allergic to something, ike scrubfresh, but when she had gelish they used something different?)
I wouldn’t be looking at getting new products for a ‘potential’ client, just see if anything you’ve got might be something she hasn’t tried and take care with what products you prep with.

Thank you, I never thought about the possibility of it being a prep product, something I will have to narrow down :) I have asked if they can find out what she has used before, but it may be a while in getting a response or will have to wait till I see her myself when I start in the salon.

Thank you for your help xx

Agree with Leggibone, plus would also add that the same ingredients can be in Primer, pure GP and hybrid GP - HEMA or Di-HEMA for example. People are not allergic to products, but chemical ingredients in products.

It's a bit unusual for a client to develop an allergy. Allergies develop through repeated and often long term skin contact or inhalation. Visiting a salon once a month usually is not enough unless that person is especially sensitive (i.e. may have other allergies such as pollen, etc). Has she used GP at home? That would explain it.
