I discovered tea tree oil when my 2 year old got lice at daycare!! All the over the counter meds wouldn't get rid of it and someone told me to try tea tree oil. I put it in my hand with the shampoo (a lot of it that first time) and the lice was dead!! I had to pick the dead lice out but that was the end of it! Now during lice season (I live in Canada) I just try and wash her hair at least once a week with a mixture of shampoo and tea tree oil and she has never contracted lice again, she is now 5.
