Hi as anyone had any experience with a good bright purple I have a client who is desperate for purple her hair is a faded plum red I have tested her hair a few times prelightening and I can only lift her hair to copper then when I apply purple it goes dark again I know really with semis /direct dyes could do with getting her hair to a base 10 but it’s not budging

Why is it only lifting to copper? What are using for a lightener?
If her hair was previously box coloured, it’s probably over saturated with colour. But that’s just a guess.
You’re not going to get bright purple unless you lift it to at least a 9, tone to neutralise first, then use a quality direct dye. Crazy colour isn’t very good, in my opinion so I recommend you try something like Manic Panic.

If it’s going to compromise the hair, you need to be honest with your client. Sometimes, they just want to chop and change and won’t accept that their hair isn’t up for it.

Good luck!

Hi yes my client has used box colours for quite some time so had a lot of colour build up shes been black red plum but not coloured her hair for a while I have only done test peices and have been honest but I said I will try and achieve if I can but only willing to do tests at the moment I bleached up the test peice with 12% just to see how light it would go and will not budge past a copper shade really strange, I tried the guy tang my identity purple raven but because I can’t lift it to a 9/10 it just took it back dark

You’d be better off using a colour reducer to remove the majority of box dye build up before using bleach as reducers don’t cause damage.
