Hi All,
i am getting my hair coloured and cut Friday to prepare for my hairdresser fitting in Racoon hair extensions on Wednesday.
The lady is fitting half a head as my hair is fine & this should be enough to start off acording to her.
Im quite nervous, as they cost alot ££££..
has anyone experienced Racoon? and would you recommend?

thanks in advance

They really are the best.

I have tried every hair extension system going I think! Personally I swear by Great Lengths. They are pre-bonded, whereas racoon come as loose hair which the hairdresser then picks, glues, and attaches to your hair. Great Lnegths are attached straight in. With Racoon you get a lot f shedding and you will lose some. As your hairdresser has probably explained you will have to go back to the salon every so often to have them maintaines where they will remove any loose ones and can top up if you are thinnin anywhere. With Great Lengths there is no shedding and you lose very few. That is not to say Racoon is not a great product which it is, the hair is fantastic. Great Lengths are more expensive than raccoon to begin with but there is no in between visits needed, and also you dont have to be as careful with them as Raccoon ie special shampoo nd conditioner etc. Raccoon are cheaper but you will pay top up visits so it evens out between them. My boyfriend also went mad with the amount of hair I shedded round the house!
Im sure you will be happy with whichever ones you pick, they are the top 2 systems in my opinion.

Just remember to follow your aftercare advice, especially when separating them, its quite easy to do in front of the tv of an evening but if you dont keep up with it you can end up with some nasty dreadlocks! This will all be explained to you.

good luck xx:)

This is inaccurate. Raccoon extensions don't shed. Nor do you need specialist products. We sendclients home with a Redken shampoo and conditioner in their aftercare kit.

By making the bonds rather that simply sticking in pre-made bonds, your stylist can vary the size of the bonds depending on your hair type, natural fall of the hair, and natural thickness. This method requires a high skill level, so raccoon metod generally attracts good hairdressers. Skill is also required to handle loose hair, as opposed to opening a packet of pre-bonded hair.

Raccoon method is the method of choice for almost all the top extension specialists, as buying and using loose hair is less restrictive than buying pre-bonded hair. The only exception being extensionists who tip the hair themselves.

I was told there were brands of shampoo that couldnt be used with Racoon extensions, is this inaccurate?
I found that with Racoon extensions I would lose individual hairs, and would lose extensions from time to time. This has not happened with Great Lengths. This is my personal experience which I stated at the start of the post. I dont think that Racoon is a bad product by any means, in fact I loved the Raccoon extensions and the hair used and it is fantastic quality. And I agree that the colours can be blended and the bonds adjusted for hair type. It is true that Racoon need top up/maintenance visits in between and Great Lengths dont, which is a cost that I thought the enquirer should factor in.
I was stating my opinion that having tried both, I prefer Great Lengths. As with any kind of beauty treatment each therapist has their own personal preferences and I was stating mine for the OP.

hmm, very interesting!

good thing is that you still agree Racoon is good quality hair.

& i dont mind buying the Racoon products as my shampoo i usually use is alot more expensive.
