Hi everyone
I'm doing a nail technician course at the moment and got the shock of my life when I have realised just how hard it is to do extensions. There's no way any of my friends are going to be patient enough to sit for hours whilst I practice on them, only to have their nails look a mess at the end of it (because it's going to take me a while to get up to speed and for them to look good).
Would people advise me to buy a Nail Trainer? I know people use them often to practice nail art and polishing but are they really good enough to practice extensions? I'm hoping so?

Hi hun, they are fab for starting out, getting ur product right and moving the hand u need it to and also getting faster. Would Defo recommend xxx

if you cant get the practice elsewhere then yes get yourself one but dont forget to practice on yourself!! you can do them and take them off and keep practising! and once you can do your own you can do anyones!

Thanks so much for your replies! Thing is, I'm struggling to even file other people's nails yet have no problem with my own. Always done my own nails and thought I'd be good at the whole nail thing doing other peoples. But it's amazing how different it is.

Yes, get yourself a nail trainer and as your skills get better, then you can move onto your friends and family.

I mean no offense by what I'm about to say but I love it when a newbie who is in official training actually admits how hard it is to produce a set of enhancements.
There are way too many people out there who think it's easy to do and don't consider the nail industry a professional industry because they think it's easy but it's not and it requires a lot of training and a lot of practice and a lot of skill and it's good you recognise this, cause you will always be wanting to achieve the next level and will work towards this.

Good luck in your training and always remember, we all had to start somewhere.

Oh I nearly forgot.....if you do buy yourself a nail trainer, then please get the official Nail trainer, don't get a cheapo knock off from Ebay cause it will only cause you grief, get the real deal and you will thank yourself for it.

Thanks Wooshka! And I know exactly what you mean about loving it when someone new realises just how hard it is. I totally get you. It's very true, most people will probably think there is nothing to it. I knew it would be hard but it's certainly be a shock to the system.

they are great to practice on, they move like a real hand, so you get used to "how" it all feels ... the big bonus they don't bleed and you get to keep your friends :)
