Hi

I hope someone can offer me some professioanl advice please. I have naturally dark blonde hair. I always have my hair highlighted using a light blonde and darker blonde colour. I have foils. Sometimes full head and sometimes just the T section. I have always been satisfied. I have not been able to afford to have the colourist I usually see so the lady that cuts my hair said she would colour it (she doesnt charge as much) She told me that I had 2 choices. Either how I normally have it or she could just put a light blonde through. I opted for h
the light blonde colour. I had full head foils. The blonde colour was lighter than I normally have it but I liked it. However, when I got home I noticed that approx 1/2 inch of my roots had not been touched and were darker that my hair colour (as if I had re-growth). I wasn't keen so called her the next day. She advised that there was nothing she could do and that foils do not get right to the root. She said taht it was due to me having a lighter colour and that after the 2nd/3rd time of colouring it would not be as noticable. She advised that the only way to rectify it was to have a full head colour but I didnt want this. I explained that I was not happy but all she could suggest was that I came back in 4 weeks and just had my parting done. It has been 2 weeks now and my roots are terrible. I cant wear my hair up as the hair around my ears is noticable and:cry: dark. I dont even think I can go for another 4 weeks to have it done but it cost me £65.00 and I cant afford to have it done again. Have I been given the correct information. What should I do. I am very upset about it. I dont have much money as I have a baby and this was my only treat.

Hi, sounds to me like the stylist who done your hair hasnt got a clue! You can actually get very close to the scalp with foils, when i do H/L it never looks like the client has roots straight away & u certainly shouldnt have a 1/2" root showing straight after its been done. If i were you i would ask to see the manager/owner & demand that this gets sorted out, even if they just re-do your T section for now so that the roots aren't showing!x

thanks for the reply jenny. I went down to the salon the other day. My hairdresser was not in and neither was the manager. I spoke to another stylist. I forgot to mention in my last post that before I went to the hairdressers I used an at home hair dye all over. This was about 4 weeks before I went to have my hair highlighted. I again explained to the stylist that I did not like my hair and that I had roots etc etc. She said my stylist had given me the correct information. She said that I would have roots because I had used a hair dye all over and that with foils you can not get close to the root in case the dye bleeds. She said the roots will look more noticable but that it will not be as bad when I have it done again. She would not offer to re-do my hair for free and suggested that I book in again in a few weeks time to have my parting done. I explained that it was only 3 weeks since I had it done and I have at least 1 inch of dark roots on show and the reason I had my hair coloured by the stylist was because she was cheaper. Now I am paying the same as I am having to have the parting done again. Is this right? I am not sure whether I should go back to her or change hair dressers completly. I am worried that if I go to her again I will have the same problem. Thank you very much

To be honest i think you might be better going to a different salon, i cant undrestand why they are telling you that they cant get close to the root with foils. Even if you have used a home tint prior to having your h/l this wouldnt stop them from being able to get close to the root with foils!!! sounds to me like they are just making up excuses for poor work. I do foils all the time & i've never left a client with roots straight after a treatment...as for them saying it will bleed if they get too close to the scalp you know this isnt right because you've had foils before, a good stylist can get in very close to the scalp without colour bleed, the only time they will bleed is if there has been too much tint applied and its spilled out of the foil! I'm saying got to another salon but really the salon you already go to should be fixing their mistake free of charge!!! Good luck & let me know how you get on!:hug:x
