Hi...Im probably posting in the wrong place so apologies....am new to this site!
Im considering renting a room in a privately owned gym on the suburban outskirts of north east London, which is highly male orientated - this is fine by me as i ve worked in a male only hair and beauty/grooming salon and currently work from home where the vast majority of requested treatments is waxing both male and female.
The gym itself is owned by one individual and although he has ploughed some money into upgrading the building a little the room on offer is a bit 'tired' in terms of its decor/cupboards and couch....its currently painted pink!, and not a nice shade at that but the owner says i could paint it (at my expense). The room is currently in use on a sat by a male injuries massage specialist and on mondays by a chiropodist who leaves her trolley and equipment in the room...I am looking to use 2 days mid week. The owner wanted £50 a day at first...my face clearly told him this was way over the top especially as its not even top notch (not anywhere near the standard you may get in a fitness first where you expect that to be the daily rate!)..there are no washing machine facilities...there is a sink in the room and seperate shower my clients could use if needed, no waiting area with seats but the room is very close to the reception area and the guy is happy for me to have posters and material promoting my services of which he ll help with. After a long chat he agreed a daily rate of £30 - which in my heart i still feel too pricey as there were a couple of other rooms within salons for £20-25...only trouble with them were very girly whereas my main clientele is male which is where he has the upper hand! He wont come down any further on daily rate which i ll have to accept if i go ahead but i wanted to know if any of you who have rooms pay the full daily rate if any for any holiday time you take? I suggested that maybe for 2 weeks in the year i could take holiday time at agreed dates without a fee but he said no so i was thinking maybe of offering him half the daily rate..what does anybody else think or do?
Also the notice to end agreement is 3 months...is this rather a little too long? I d hate to be stuck somewhere if im unhappy or its not working out but of course i know it cover s me the other way if he wanted shot of me that i d have lots of time to find somewhere new.
thanks for any feedback and sorry for long post!
