Hi geeks!

I probably have a silly questions...but can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
A few months ago I found this lovely red colour on Rusk and done my hair with it ever since then. It's an intense red, which looks amaizing on the first days, but it fades off very easily. I'm using a good colour shampoo and i used masks and colour savers, but still...in 2 weeks, my hair turns from cheryy red, to blonde red and I guess it will go very much to a copper at the end of the month.
Oh....and I know where I probably go wrong...maybe because I use 30vol peroxide? Should I go with a lower one? I am a dark blonde.
I have to say, it's so frustrating to see all the colour running down everytime I wash my hair. I know it happens with reds, but I think it happens too much with this one.
So...I was wondering...is this Rusk Deep Shine a permanent colour? or is a quasi? It really gives u a brilliant shine and I like the smell of it, but didn't hear much people using it. Have u ever tried it? What can u advise me?
thanks x

Hiya-was it the 6.66r? I use this with a 20vol and find it fades really quick aswel. I'd reccommend trying a colour reviver or puttin a semi on in between colours to keep the intensity-reds just 1 of them colours that fades.

Mine is 6.6 i'll try a lower perowide then. Thank you. Do you know other brands that make a similar red?

Wella do some nice reds in both the kolesten and the colour touch x

loreal majirouge also do nice vibrant reds

I always find that no matter what brand of color you use, the reds will always fade quicker than the other colors.

The "red pigment molecules" are the largest and cannot attach and hold themselves into the cortex as well as the other color pigments can, hence the quick fading.

:D x

I use the 6.66rr on a client with thR quasi developer it's fab and minimal fading defiantly try lower if u need permanent maybe go with 10vol/3%
I use the 5.6 as well and that's gorgeous doing a 6.6 tomorrow so look forward to seeing the result I have heard that Affinage do a b-red range in those colours which are said to be very good :)

Ok, next time i'll try with a 10vol.
I'll look up for Affinage and Majirouge (that's new to me).

Lamaur man- i thought the opposite! that the molecules are smallers and finer and that's why the reds fade easier...hmm..i'll have to research this.

I also thought reds were the smallest-hence y they wash out quite easily.
Ive got the b-red on my wholesale list, there's an offer on the starter pack in adels xx

With this one client we tried the 6.66rr and 20vol and she reported that it had faded very fast so next time I used the balancing lotion ie .1.9% quasi and it Was still pretty red and even and a nice shade when she can't back for regrowth so it seemed to hold better ?! I'm no scientist or colour expert but there is defiantly a better result ( with this client at least she is thR only one I have at present having this shade ) x

Thank you Candis. What was the ratio u've used for 1.9%? x

i use wella and tinted with koleston and 6% on my sister with one of the vibrant reds and it faded quite quick. next time i used a colour touch and it stuck like glue. it seemed to grab on easier. with reds i seem to find the lowest peroxide u can get off with using the better it will hold, its like the higher peroxide burns the colour out. also once u have tinted it once if u are continuing to retint the ends u are constantly opening the cuticle and roughening the hair, making it less able to hold the colour, make sure when u are re-doing ur tint that u are re-tinting the roots and colour bathing the ends, even if they are really faded a colour bath will refresh the colour and be much kinder to the hair. :) hope that helps x

Hi
I use 1:2 when using the 1.9 making it a quasi if using 3% use 1:1.5
Just done 6.66rr as we speak used 3% it's proper bright can't wait to dry it off :0)

Red colours often tend to fade out faster than any other.
Make sure the base your putting it onto isnt too light, ie bleached,
and dont use a peroxide thats too high.
Iv used maji rouge before, iv mixed it to the letter and still dont seem to like, it seems to be "waterproof" if that maske sense, the colour doesnt seem to look as thoughis penetrating, and it never does.

Matrix do good reds, So Red. or theres another good brand Vitality's Art and the colour would be Ruby, for that brighter look, you could always add a bit of base to tone it down.

Also, i find, using a good silver shampoo helps to keep reds better than an actual shampoo for coloured hair. The violet grabs to the reds and helps it last.

Hope this helps x x

Really? I'll try the shampoo and the other brands ( I don't know why I got so hooked on Rusk- maybe it's because my hair shines in an amaizing way so I think that 'deep shine' worked wonders).
I've died it now with a 10vol, only the roots (on my nat colours a base 5) and I colour bathed the ends as suggested by you Scottydolly. It was actually much easier and hopefully will be much better for my hair.

Thanks for your suggestions!x

I used Rusk colours for a while, the shine you get with them is lovely, and the tube size is good too. I just couldnt get them delivered to the salon :(

With majirouge go for 6.66 it's bright red or 6.60 if you want it slightly darker, personally 6.66 is the best :)

hi i had very light blonde hair and decided to go red i tried all sorts of colour to keep the colour vibrant including majirouge and Affinage B red and many others and they all kept fading as my hair was so light and porous so i decided to try Directions semi permanent and found that this colour in pillar box red i think last the longest and was the most vibrant xx
