Hello!
im super new to this industry and just want to know what is tolerated and what is not. Started working for a HIGH end salon in a bougie area.... the standard is perfection however the senior assistant (im a new assistant) is super unprofessional and passive aggresive. She doesnt like me because after my first shift i apparently rolled my eyes at her? so the other day she was super rude and passive and shoved me out of the way at one point. when i told my boss she laughed. she LAUGHED at her employee being physical and unprofessional and rude to someone on their third shift. im just wondering if this kind of hazing is the norm or if I should move on to better salons.

thanks!

Hello no this is not normal behaviour. It’s bullying and if your boss isn’t taking it seriously then I would look to go elsewhere. X

Is the boss a paid manager or the salon owner?
If she’s not supervising your induction period properly, I’d guess that she really doesn’t understand how to manage and motivate staff to ensure everyone works together as a team.
How does she treat clients?

If it’s not a supportive atmosphere, start looking elsewhere.

No, it is not normal behavior. You have two options: keep on working and not pay attention to her or find a new salon to work at. Either way, you have to evaluate your options and see what is worthwhile for you in the long run. I hope it all works out
