Hi guys,

I've not been on in a while but would like to pick the brains of the salon owners on here or anyone who has had an interview for a salon position.

I am almost at the end of my 2nd year NVQ LII in both ladies hairdressing and mens barbering and I have an interview with my local branch of Cellys on Tuesday .

I have been asked to bring a model with me who needs a restyle, but just wanted to ask what constitues a restyle? I know it's where someone comes in with one look and goes out with a different look but the only person I have had who has said they are willing (so far) has short hair and I don't think there could be much of a restyle going on!

So I don't know what to do. Take in this person, or wait and see if I get anyone else who has longer hair?

Please help me, I'm cr*pping it!

Thanks in advance

Hiya,

I'd class a restyle as not following the existing cut as a guideline.

They'll have asked for a restlye so they can see that you know how to achieve the desired cut and not just following the exisitng cutting guideline.

Hth for now. I'm sure someome with more knowledge of interviews will have some more advice

Good Luck x

Thank you Lauren :)

I just cannot find anyone at the moment who has long enough hair for me to restyle who is available on Tuesday! I do have a few days, but I may have to just drag someone in off the street, lol!

aww lol.

If you can't find anyone, could you not ring the salon, and ask if this girl would be ok for you to do your trade test on? X

I am not a hair dresser but may I give an opinion?

If I go into a hair salon for a cut and blow dry, it is my belief that they will trim it and blow dry to my usual style. If I go in and ask for a restyle I would expect that you are going to ask me how I would like it or ask me for a picture of a style that I would like. I might want to move the parting or have it behind my ears or feather it in around the neck area or spike it all up or have one side really really short or leave the fringe long and everything else really short or .... ok, I've run out of things to suggest but do you see what I mean? You can take your friend with short hair and just make it look different.

I hope this helps a teeny tiny bit.

:green: Yeah, i think I'll give it until Monday and if I haven't found anyone else, I'll give the salon a ring. I bet they're ok with it and then she won't be able to rearrange work!

Blimey, these things are sent to try us, lol!

Thanks for your help. xx
