Did I do the right thing? I kind of feel everything has been left on a dud note. If I were to blame in anyway I'd like to know about aftercare for next time.

I've been having acrylics and gels for years. Different techs, different areas. Never had a problem. The rare dodgy one that lifts or an nasty catch on my behalf. I'd say 95% of the time I had a full set at rebalance.

Well I started off with this new tech getting gels and they would split and peel. Every time. I kind of stupidly just paid and carried on. Until 8 months or so down the line I thought, "I'm not paying for a 2-3 week manicure to start chipping in 3 days." They were opi gels and I've never had these before. Literally every nail would chip and peel. Started trying acrylics which were better in all honesty. But still not lasting as before. So tried gels again for colour. Split, I gave up. Gave my nails a break. 6 months later still thinking it was probably my nails or something. Asked to get them redone.

Day one thumb splits and lifts a few mm top left 1/4 of nail. Day 3 next thumb splits and lifts exactly the same place. Day 5 index finger again exactly same split, same place. Which suggests to me something is up and it's not me. I didn't catch them, I'm careful, wear gloves etc. She couldn't come out and repair them, due to being fully booked for weeks which this time has annoyed me. This is the first time I've ever asked for repair before my appt. But my nails are rested, just had a full set, THREE all crack in exactly the same position. I thought I'd at least ask for even a chargeable fix. Save the set. I don't feel this is my fault and a full set of gels and extensions, wasted as 3 are lifting off days in. I'm so disappointed. So I'm going to be looking for someone else. Could I have done anything to cause this, is this my fault. So I know for next time as I'm just chucking money away.

Hmmm I think I've got the answer in the post above me... OPI is asoak off gel I believe. It wasn't buffed off for sure. The post above says that soak off gel is not strong enough for tips, which I have as it can't support it. If that lady is right then it would explain why all my nails cracked just below the tip on the nails. So I'm glad it's nothing I've done and I should have more luck with someone who uses buff off gel, which all my previous techs have. Disappointed but still nevermind.

I feel a bit better moving on now, so thanks anyway
