I was wondering if anyone had any advice on sculpting with gel on very flat fan shaped natural nails. I have done two sets on these types of nails in the last two days, and although they have been very happy with their nails, I have not!

To me they look so pancake shaped! After I did the set tonight I was thinking of maybe pinching the forms a bit more to give them a better C curve, but I'm not sure if that is the way to do it or not.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!!!

Well there is an old saying "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear"!! This type of nail is not pretty and you are limited as to just how much you can do. The problem is of course that the longer it grows the wider and worse it looks.

Whether sculpting or tipping, the nails should be kept short and neat and gently tapered at the tip, so as not to emphasize the fan shape. I use a soft white powder at the free edge rather than French white, which only makes the free edge look wider!

Personally I do not like to pinch a curve into a flat nail. This practice can cause later pain or even onycholysis on a thin nail plate. I would rather 'build' the curve in from above. When the nail is flat to begin with, this looks pretty and not bulky and is less likely to cause probelms.
