Hi just looking for some opinions on the ingredients in shampoos. Obviously there are your moisture, protein and clarifying shampoos but I've never really looked into their ingredients until now, and 'apparently' certain ingredients in prettying all of these different shampoos are bad for your hair! Some shampoos are so expensive which I don't mind spending the pennies on if they are going to look after my hair but since I've researched in to it all, they practically all contain these so called bad ingredients.

Just wondered what people thought and if people are going to mention the same few ingredients :) be interesting to know what you guys use and find works :)

My daughter eventually discovered she is allergic to the sodium lauryl sulphate in nearly every product that foams such as facial washes, soaps and most shampoos. Expensive products have it as well as the cheap ones.

I have now received some helpful pro advice on shampoos to try for her.

Well there was a big paraben/sls scare a while back so these sulfate free products were all the rage. I personally didn't care for them as they never got a good lather & hair felt not as clean after prolonged use. They were no good for the pros @ removing chemical residues from chem services. I would only recommend them to clients having reactions to these sulfates.

My grandmother was allergic to balsam, an ingredient in almost all hair/skin/soap products in days gone past.....If your not allergic/sensitive to todays product market or have dry/oily concerns theres not much worry. Professional lines are always evolving & have company chemists that know what they are doing.

The least extra altered for perks products are mens shampoo/conditoners. They are void of perfume essences & have more naturaly herbal based additives like peppermint/jojoba/clove etc. Most chemicals/non-organic compounds are present in products for a good reason.

Perhaps reading the following will help you.
Additive found in soap, toothpaste and shampoo linked to cancer and liver disease | Daily Mail Online AND How Dangerous Are Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates in Everyday Beauty Products?*|*Quora and you should be able to make up your mind. I do read the ingredients list very carefully.

In order to have a balanced view I think that the following should be read and digested as well:

Long words that end in "one" are generally silicones ie/ Dimethicone.

First I found a really good website: TightlyCurly.com then I set up a table with all the ingredients in the products I use, Pro Naturals Hair Repair System, then trolled through the tightly curly ingredients list, alphabetically. It was very interesting because I did several "organic" shampoos and conditioners as well. Incidentally mine had no "bad" or "okay" ingredients, all were "good" for which I am truly thankful.
