shampoos affecting colors?

hi,

looking for some help never had this happen before

had a lady in today which i have colored before i use wella 8/03 normally but added abit of 8/1 to tone down the gold with 6%. when drying the hair the dye had not taken well at all could still see the roots !!. So i then used 8/0 and 8/1 with 9% which took really well and was so happy that i re did the color.

The lady then said her hair has started to look really dull lately as she started using a new shampoo???
is this why the color didnt take well? because i know if the hairs not clean the color wont take or is it my choice of color?

Yes shampoos etc will affect colour both before and after colour application. If a client uses silicon based products, colour won't take very well.

If they continue to use them the colour will wash out really quick and fade badly.

totally agree a friend complaing bout colour going dull today and i looked at it looked faded and washed out copper originally 6.46 loreal she using pantene which is big time silicone base product not happy but you learn something everyday!!!
