Recently we have had two or three customers returning to the salon roughly about four weeks after they have had a perm; their perm has gone almost straight. After consultation with each of the clients it appears that they all use a dandruff shampoo (particularly Head and Shoulders). I believe it may be the chemicals in the Shampoo that is causing the perm to drop. One lady returned today, however, she uses E45 which I thought may be more gentle! Please could anyone help with this problem. Thank you

Why if your perming their hair do they not leave with correct aftercare? I would not dream of doing a colour and letting my client go away and use dove!! Or Pantene!

Yes head and shoulders will cause a perm to drop. It is so alkaline that you can actually perm hair with the rotten stuff.
It is effectively like washing the hair in perm solution, which will of course make a perm go straight.

Thank you ladies just as I thought about the shampoo; our clients do leave the salon with the correct after care information, however, the majority of our perm clients are in their late 70's and 80's and god love em they do tend to occasionally forget what has been advised. Thank you for your speedy response's

Any comment on the E45 Shampoo relating to perms or colour?
