Hey! Ive used Shellac for years now and dont generally have much of a problem with it but one client just cant get on with it, shes had it with brisa gel and ive tried calgel as an alternative too and non seem to last any better. She chips them a lot and sometimes looses the odd one in under two week sometimes they do two week but she does have a lot of problems with them. Does anyone have any tips that may help them last longer? Or an alternative? She wants to stick to gel so her nails dont damage as much but i feel really guilty her keep having to come back for fixes! Thanks x

It depends why she's having problems. Is it her aftercare (or lack of!)? Job? Cleaning, hobbies etc?

Are her nails flaky or peeling? If I have a client that has these kind of nails, I always try to gradually gently buff away the peeling parts every two weeks until they're gone, as this can cause chipping quicker. Also, try double topcoat. I do this with one or two of my clients, even if it's just on the one nail that chips each time. As previous poster says, if she's not listening to what you say with regards to aftercare or wearing gloves etc, especially knowing that she is prone to chipping, then there's only so much you can do. Shellac/gel polish isn't indestructible x

As above! Double top coat. Ink 007 bond is really good as well. Has she got any health issues? Stress? The better the condition of the natural nail the longer gel lasts...and depends what the client gets up to! X
