Hello Geeks,

I really need some advice, please excuse the rambling thread...

Ok, a couple of weeks ago a new salon opened up in my town and I thought I would give it a go as my hairdresser of 15 years has retired due to ill health.

So I made an appointment for full head hi-lites just the roots, trim and blow dry....how wrong can it go I ask myself.

The lady came over and checked all my hair, got the colour chart thingy against my natural hair etc etc and she seemed to know what she was doing. She then told me that since I have so many foils she thought it would be best to just put a full head colour instead of foiling. I was hesitant as i've had it done before and I looked like a lightbulb and hated it, she was very insistant and I caved in

Fast forward a while and there I sit with orangey roots thinking omg..she then tells me she'll need to put a toner on it etc. Basically I ended up with bright white/silvery hair - it looked horrendous!

I spoke up and said it looked terrible and she would have to do something about it..she said she'd put a colour over it to tone it down.

I now have dark brown, patchy hair  She's also razored my hair within an inch of it's life. I left the salon refusing to pay.

Today i've gone into a salon which has been highly recommended to me and the owner was so nice to me I broke down sitting in her chair :o I've told her I hate having dark hair as since i'm so pale I look like a 30 year old goth! and she said to lift my hair she would use Goldwell Silk and foil it? I've never heard of it, so I would like some opinions please? and the results I can expect?

Basically how long will it take for me to blonde again

Thanks for reading xx

Where a bouts you live? X

I'm in Norwich x

Was going offer to rectify it if you were local! Best advice I can give you is get yourself some matrix biolage, fortetherapie shampoo, conditioner, treatment and thermal active repair gloss serum! And don't colour your hair for a couple of months x

O my god! Why did she put all over brown on it? If it was too bright she should have just tones it down with few darker foils! I would advise once a week towel drying your hair putting a deep conditioning treatment on it and keep it on as long as possible even over night then wash it out jut to help your poor hair, and gradually put more blonde foils in! What a nightmare! I'm in Ely Cambridgeshire but bit far away for you!

I'f doing a over night mask loosely put cling film on so you dont cover ur sheets xoxo

Aww I feel your pain,a few years back I had blonde hair and went to a hair dressers in my town to get a full head colour done.

I walked out of there like eminem. Bright yellow hair :( I had to walk all the way through town like it and go to school. Another time I was pregnant I went to get my hair cut.my hair was hacked away and then a fringe put it and it was blow-dried and set and she actually made my hair look like viv windsor of emmerdale.my mum could not stop laughing.

I need my hair cutting back into shape but I'm too scared to go to a hairdresser now can't find anyone that will give me what I actually want without cutting it too much.

Hope you get your hair sorted as it is a big part of you and there is nothing worse then hating your hair :( x x x

Good god that is so sad. Take good care of your hair. L'oreal and matrix do some lovely hair masques - and you don't have to only wear them for 5mins. You could wear them all night over you mid-lenghts and ends with a shower cap so you don't get the stuff on the sheets. Luckily with lightened hair, although it takes colour dramatically, it loses colour quickly.. So don't be down!
