Hi there, went to do a skin test on a new client today.
She has short spiky hair, she wants 2 colours, copper and blonde highlights.

The client said her other hairdresser put the copper on 1st, then rinsed, dried then put on highlighting cap 4 bleach highlights.

This seems a jaunt, is it just me that thinks this?
Or is there another way? I'm just thinking cos her hair is so short?!

Thank you fellow geeks x;)

If you use meche, you can use the reversal tecnique. I can highlight hair less than an inch long very quickly that way.

pick up a weave or slice of hair, stick the meche to the head, apply tint/ bleach to the weave then stick another meche on top. Both meches remain open, but the whole thing is closed and secure.

can you not free hand it? or does she want it fine?
xxx

If the hair is too short I'd pop the cap on and use the bullseye effect by pulling every hole, get your two colours and start at the crown with the bleach then another circle round the diameter of the head with tint then so on and so on, I tend to make these circles thin then you do get the better effect of two colours. I use meche if the hair is long enough.

I'm struggling to picture this too!! but sounds far easier this way!

lol i am really glad i aint the only one , i was worried dawn would just think i was as dumb as a box of frogs , lol

What Dawn is saying (I think/hope .... Forgive me if I'm wrong Dawn!) is say your gonna start the colour from the front, weave your first section, hold it out of the way with a clip, put your base colour on the piece of hair left under the woven out bit, put a piece of meche flat on top of the tinted piece of hair to cover and protect it, then bring down your clipped up woven piece and brush on your highlight colour, so there's one piece of meche inbetween the two colours. Then put a piece of meche on top of this highlighted woven section. Keep repeating this sequence all over the hair, back to back meche. You will be left with NO virgin/dry hair, every strand will be coloured.

I really hope this makes sense x

ahh i get it now , lol x

Amost. pick up a weave/slice. Instead of using the meche sticky side upwards, turn it towards the head, so the meche sticks to the head/hair. That holds the non woven hair down. apply tint to the weave, sticking it down onto what is in effect the back of the meche, and open another meche and sticky side down on top of the tinted weave. Then take another section.

ahhh right i deffo get it now xx

Thanks ppl, would this get right to the root as she has grey hair 2??
Sorry if this sounds a daft question but I need 2 get it right
Thanks

yes you can get right to the scalp. You can also flood colour between if needed.

Maybe this should be my first youtube vid subject?
