Should I train in L&P as well as Brisa?

I'm currently on the 8 day Brisa course at the Creative academy, i'd pretty much decided early on that i didn't want to do l &p as there's so many salons around me charging next to nothing for pink and whites. Just completed my colour theory day and the fact that custom blending is available is really appealing to me. But I have a home based salon so the monomer smell was something else that dissuaded me from using it.

Now I'm in two minds whether to add l&p to my training before we start the enhancement basics training days. I'm not sure what i'm even asking you all, just wanted to know the opinions of those of you who do one or both systems.

My head is hurting trying to make a decision. I currently work as a nail tech part time (Evenings and weekends) but want to do this full-time, i feel by doing l&p will increase my client base but as my enhancements will not be the cheapest on the block (as I refuse to cheapen CND as a brand) worried all the expense may be for nothing?

So Indecisive :-((((

if you can afford to do it then i would, its always good to have. i have a home salon and get asked to do L+P all the time, however as im not confident in my L+P i turn them away. you could if you are worried about smell in your house just advertise the gel but you will always get someone ringing up asking you to do L+P! not sure if i have helped xx

Do it if you can.

If you prefer gel you could always offer that predominantly in the knowledge that you could do L and P if asked for it.

I did L and P at college as part of nvq3 but at the moment I'm just focussing on gels but I think that's more because I'm wanting to take my time with my learning and find L and P a lot harder.

But yeah, if you can do it then go for it :)

This was my dilemma also. Beauty trained. Offer Minx & Shellac. Home based. Hoping to book on CND Gel today if I get round to it. I've opted for gel only. The smell was a concern with L&P but also I understand it's more difficult to master than Brisa. I have had Brisa on my own nails now for about 9 weeks and love it. I feel I will have something for everyone once I offer Brisa alongside my other nail services. :)

I passed my day 14 yesterday on the CND Complete. L&p was so hard (I love Brisa), but yesterday when we had our assessments I had improved so much with lots of practice. I like to think that when a client comes to me and I assess their nails, then I am able to offer everything they need and don't have to send them away to other salons xx

Hey pool girl :)

I think you should do it.
There are ways of limiting the amount of smell (or vapours :). Keeping your monomer covered and only decanting what you need. Also not wiping your brush all the time on your couch roll. I think Geeg ( sorry if wrong) posted on here to have a pad with scrubfresh to you if you need to wipe as that eliminates quite a bit.
You are in the perfect place to learn it and Sarah will tell us all about not creating an excess smell I'm sure :)

I think I'm gonna do it, just worried where i'm gonna find the time to practice what with working over 70 hrs a week already! I'm definitely requesting to go down to part-time hours in my (tedious) day Job when I come back from my holiday. I've also got (Henry) my nail hand/trainer which I can use so if it gets too late in the evening I can leave him until the morning! X

I did my conversion this year in Brisa and I love it, and its all i use at the moment as i didnt get on with L&P with my original training.

I think it's good having both systems as different clients benefit from one or the other. For example I was told on my training that really soft weak nails Would benefit the extra strength of L&p and/ or people who want nails short term as it can be soaked off. But I find my mobile clients really appreciate the odourless Brisa (especially the other halves!) and it is so lovely to use and looks great. I think I will eventually do the L&P training although it's gonna be scary getting used to it.

That's what I worry about. Also worry about not being able to find the time to practice :-(
Then again, there's nothing stopping me from offering Brisa first then L & P later when I feel more confident?

Of course, don't rush get your practice in. I anticipate lifting problems from getting mix ration right, something we don't have to worry about with Brisa!

Well, I've told the Creative Academy that I'm going to add the L&P days to my Brisa course when I get back off my jollies, but i'm a little worried.

The L&P master kit that is given to us contains only the Perfect Colour powders. Wouldn't it make sense to train us using the new Retention + powders? Can someone clarify if they're meant to be a replacement for PC powders or used alongside them?

Hope someone can put my mind at rest. X
